Overview
The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) is responsible for the delivery of an exceptional member service experience and meeting all sales management goals. ABM's are important to the smooth running of the branch by establishing member service standards, greeting members and facilitating a welcoming and member focused environment. This role will provide direction and leadership by supervising, training and assuring quality control over all activities of the Branch Team Leader (BTL), MSRs and Loan Officers depending on assigned branch. This role also oversees the daily branch operations in coordination with the Branch Manager and BTL, and being accountable for all goals, profitability, internal controls, work processed and for ensuring that all personnel consistently exceed service standards. The ABM is responsible for managing the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager.


Responsibilities
Maintain supervision and leadership of branch personnel and demonstrate strong personal effectiveness.
Ensure that all personnel consistently exceed standards for quality customer care at all levels
Ensure business expertise and member focus by maintaining updated industry knowledge and being proactive in identifying industry trends
Ability to act as a change agent; suggest ways to support change, process improvements and coaches others through change
Take personal accountability for goals, attitude, behavior, participation and contributions
Delegate day to day operations to the BTL, MSRs & Loan Officers; providing leadership and guidance when necessary
In conjunction with the Branch Manager, observe the staff daily and meet weekly to review skill gaps, set goals and develop plans to improve performance.
Knowledge of policies and procedures for all products and services available through the Credit Union, NWCM, and other business partners/vendors
Identify opportunities utilizing the fundamentals of The Member Advantage program a needs-based approach to selling financial solutions to our members and achieve assigned sales goals
Ability to lead staff meetings and lead or contribute during sales calls
In coordination with the Branch Manager and Branch Team Leader, responsible for monitoring the branch cashEnsure audit controls are followed and maintain strict security measures utilizing dual and internal controls.
Track and monitor teller, vault and TCR/TCD differences and reports concerns to Manager
Responsible for understanding and sharing with the team the branch scorecard. Assist the Branch Manager with developing plans to address areas needing improvement
Responsible for completion of the monthly branch review packet
Prepare performance evaluations for MSR II and MSR III level positions and contributes to all other performance reviews of branch staff.
Attend and participate in networking, community and SEG events/activities as directed by the Branch Manager
Act as Assistant Treasurer and performs Notary and Signature Guarantee duties
Complete operational functions such as approving transactions, cash control, branch security, and internal controls
Process loans (consumer & Mortgages), opens accounts as required
Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
Supervisory Responsibilities
In the absence of the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager supervises the entire branch.
Responsibilities include overseeing the branch staff and assisting with training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Championed as the branch second in command in the absence of the Branch Manager
Professionally on-board, develop, coach and evaluate the assigned staff
May participate in the selection / hiring process with the Branch Manager
Provide operations oversight; complete operational functions such as, approving transactions, cash control, branch security, audits, internal controls, ensure compliance with policies and procedures
Open and close the branch under dual control and / or operating the branch in the absence of management
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent years of experience
Minimum of three years' experience in a comparable financial institution or more than four years retail service and sales experience
One year supervisor experience required, two years supervisor experience is preferred
Experience with client service and relationship skill building; proactive sales skills and the ability to meet service and sales goals
Ability to use sound judgement, logic and initiative while maintaining member confidentiality and demonstrating integrity
