Profile
Burlington is a vibrant, picturesque community on Lake Champlain and the most culturally diverse city in Vermont. Burlington has an international airport, and is in close proximity to a number of large cities, including Montreal (90 minutes away by car), Boston (45 minutes by air), and New York City (one hour by air). With our excellent school system, parks and Lake Champlain, and local ski mountains within an hour’s drive, it is not surprising that Burlington routinely finds itself on the “best places in the country to raise children” lists.
The Burlington Technical Center (BTC), a regional career and technical education center serving the greater Chittenden County area, is seeking a dynamic educator to teach in the
Education, Training, and Leadership
program. This program for 11th and 12th grade students from across the region, is situated in a Burlington elementary school. The ETL Lab Supervisor/Outreach Coordinator will design, implement, and oversee, experiential learning for the high school students both in the elementary school and in the community. This will require working in a co-teaching model with the ETL classroom teacher, as well as coordinating with teachers, and other school professionals, around the school and in the community. This new program is being designed with the purpose of developing future educators through BTC’s “hands on, minds on” philosophy.
The candidate must have a VT license as a teacher with an endorsement in Career Technical Education, or be eligible to earn licensure through the CTE teacher prep program and/or transcript review process. Some eligible coursework costs may be reimbursable through the district. This is a teaching contract, and salary will be determined by the current contract with the Burlington Education Association.
Preferred Requirements:
Ability to collaborate and work with a co-teacher.
Ability to create a curriculum that prepares students to be placed in community workplaces.
Ability to initiate and foster connections with teachers, and other professionals, in order to give high school students opportunities to explore career options.
Vermont teaching license with an endorsement as a CTE teacher.
Knowledge of the career and technical (CTE) system in Vermont.
Training and experience with English Language Learners.
Evidence of strong connection with students and families.
Experience in implementing inclusive practices for all students.
Experience with restorative practices.
Strong communication skills as evidenced through quality of resume, cover letter, and essays.
Salary Based off the Master Agreement
