The Hampton University Department of Pharmacy Practice invites applications for
a
highly motivated
individual to serve as
Director of the Drug Information Center (DIC) for a twelve-month, full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2023

It is a privately endowed, co-educational, nonsectarian institution. The School of Pharmacy is seeking Pre-Candidate Status by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
and
if approved, will
award the Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
It is located on the east coast of Virginia in the picturesque Hampton Roads area that includes the cities of Hampton, Norfolk, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Newport News.

Description of the Drug Information Center (DIC):
The Hampton University School of Pharmacy DIC aims to:
Proactively develop and deliver valuable medication information to healthcare professionals and consumers with an emphasis on improving patients' medication-related health status,
Train our students to develop
expertise
in the retrieval, interpretation, and communication of medication information, and
Contribute to the advancement of medication and public health information through scholarly activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities as Director of the DIC include all aspects of the center operations and support for the functions
of
as the center will
provide
education to the public. Responsibilities of the faculty appointment within the School of Pharmacy
Responsibilities include developing,
coordinating
and delivering didactic education that align with current ACPE standards; developing and
maintaining
an innovative Drug Information practice site; conducting scholarly activities such as patient-centered outcomes research, Grantsmanship and publications; engaging in service to the University and the community
and other activities appropriate to the position
Essential Responsibilities of the Position:
Teaching
Precept 4

Year students for the Drug Information APPE
Coordinate courses including but not limited to: Principles of Drug Information, Intro to Drug Information & Health Informatics
Provide instruction in other courses as assigned, including the use of Blackboard and ExamSoft to deliver instructional materials
Provide instruction on the use of drug information databases, statistical software, etc
Scholarly activities
Develop and deliver valuable drug information resources, particularly critical analysis and economic evaluation of newly approved medications or recent publications focused on clinical programs
Enhance instructional materials for use within courses, continuing education
programs, and delivery via the DIC website
Publish a minimum of one peer-reviewed article, or comparable activity, per year
Service
Increase the access and use of developed drug information resources
Administer and manage all aspects of delivering drug information services to the Hampton University community
Comply with
all the duties and responsibilities associated with being a Hampton University faculty member
Requirements
Additional Requirements
Working knowledge of statistical analysis programs (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R,
Sofastats
Working knowledge of database systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL)
Working knowledge of all major drug information resources and databases
Excellent communication, analytic, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Qualifications
Candidates applying for this position will be considered based on the following qualifications.
Basic Qualifications
A graduate
of an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program
with a Pharm.D. degree.
Licensed, within
90 days
of hire, to practice pharmacy by the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy.
Completion of a PGY-1 residency or a minimum of TWO years’ experience in working in a Drug Information Center and/or Health Informatics
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of
Drug
Information, Pharmacoeconomics, Health Informatics or Health Economics Outcome Research (HEOR) residency or fellowship program
Minimum two years’ experience in a comparable position
2 years of supervisory experience in drug safety/pharmacovigilance
Graduate-level training in biostatistics
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Proven ability to manage multiple competing projects
