The benefits manager is responsible for creating, maintaining, and effectively administering a competitive firm benefits package. This includes managing the firm’s Group Medical, Short and Long Term Disability, Life, and 401(k) and Profit-Sharing Plans and the benefits consultants and other vendors the firm utilizes to offer these plans. This manager will monitor developments in employee benefits, evaluate and compare existing employee benefits with those of other employers, and make recommendations for the firm to maintain strong benefits programs. Administration of benefits includes enrolling and orienting new employees in benefit plans, terminating enrollment upon the departure of an employee, and planning and coordinating the annual open enrollment process. Additional responsibilities include planning and coordinating education sessions on benefits, flu shot clinics, CPR/AED training, and other firm meeting and educational opportunities. Applicants for this role should have a superior knowledge of employee benefits, strong customer service and communication skills, a high level of attention to detail, and strong abilities in the use of technology such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
