Founded in 1879, Curry College is a private, four-year, liberal arts-based institution in Milton Massachusetts. In addition to the main campus classes for adult learners are also offered at our campus at Cordage Park in historic Plymouth. Job Description:

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement and Diversity, this full-time, 12-month position is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives to support a diverse student population in an inclusive community. Emphasis is placed on implementation of a comprehensive programmatic and support services strategy designed to increase the recruitment, retention, and ultimate graduation of Curry College students identified as under-represented and/or marginalized. This population of students includes, but is not limited to first generation students, students who identify as part of the LGBTQIA community, women, students from low in-come backgrounds and ethnic identities that include African American, Asian, Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American/Alaskan Native, or Multiracial.

Essential Functions:

1. Programming/ Student Engagement:

Develops programs and strategies that promote diversity and multiculturalism, and that enrich the living and learning experiences of all students with special focus on under-represented and/or marginalized and first gen students;

Plan and orchestrate opportunities to highlight diversity and inclusion through events such as welcome week events, themed-months or weeks, marketing and communications, and other additional opportunities;

Create and facilitate opportunities to integrate diversity and service into student leadership and service experiences;

Collaborate with staff and faculty members who develop College programming in diversity and multiculturalism inside and outside the classroom;

May act as mentor, coach for student leaders on diversity issues;

Serves as a support person for Affinity Clubs and Organizations as needed;

Responsible for updating and maintaining the external and internal Diversity website pages;

Participate in an on-call rotation throughout the academic year to respond to incidents and emergencies, as they occur, for a residential population of undergraduate students.

2. Training and Partnerships:

Work with members of the Division of Student Affairs to ensure diversity training is embedded in all training programs for students (Orientation, RA training, student employee training, etc.);

Collaborate with other campus departments on diversity recruitment plans and recruitment outreach activities that increase the number of candidates from underrepresented groups;

Keep abreast of best practices and current trends in diversity and inclusion and bring that knowledge to inform program and policy development work.

3. Leadership in the Division:

Serves as a participating member of the Institutional Diversity Committee, a campus wide committee consisting of faculty, staff, and students, charged with facilitating curricular and co-curricular changes and making recommendations to the President and Senior Staff on all aspects of diversity;

Serves as a member of BIRT (Bias Incident Response Team);

Work collaboratively within and across divisions on institutional priorities;

Maintains the confidentiality of all departments and College information.

Additional Functions:

Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy;

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor of his/her designee.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Counseling or related Academic Field.

3-5 Years of progressive experience in diversity education and programming or intercultural affairs.

Experience managing a team; students, graduate assistants, and/or professional staff.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals and groups from a variety of identities, cultures, and backgrounds.

A Proven record of creating strong working relationships, advising students and student organizations, developing programs, and coordinating and facilitating workshops.

Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, student development skills, and proven ability to interact effectively with and engage students, parents, faculty, alumni.

Must be highly organized, motivated, and energetic.

Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, make reasoned decisions and work collaboratively with others toward common goals.

Ability to adapt your personal and professional schedule to the unique demands of supporting the on-call rotation and the College's calendar (opening, closing, breaks, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration/Student Affairs/Counseling or Related Field.

Work experience in a college or university environment.

Banner experience preferred.

Practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence in higher education.

Knowledgeable of current and emerging issues and trends related to diversity and inclusive excellence.
