Are you passionate about community, STEM, equity, and access to support residents of San Diego neighborhoods? The Fleet Science Center is searching for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Community Engagement Manager to connect communities to the power of science through listening, collaboration, and coordination. The Fleet is a dynamic county-wide organization dedicated to connecting communities to access STEM expertise and STEM learning to support their aspirations and goals. Bilingual ability is preferred. Experience with community engagement required.
THE JOB:
We are looking for an outgoing and organized strategic thinker in the San Diego community to listen to needs and hopes and strategically plan our community efforts. Our Community Engagement Manager will bring partners together to engage diverse audiences in order to maximize the Fleet’s impact across the county. This position actively supports our mission and goals by:
* Leading the Fleet’s relationships in neighborhoods and inform the service of the Fleet based on community-identified aspirations, needs, and barriers.
* Creating and maintaining productive partnerships with external organizations, such as community-based organizations, schools, after-school networks, libraries and local businesses.
* Planning the community engagement strategies to broaden the reach and improve the service of the Fleet and partner programs
* Planning and implementation, co-development and evaluation of community science programs that are responsive to the needs and interests of children and adults.

* A passion for connecting people to science
* Experience with community organizing and stewarding community relationships
* A passion for STEM disciplines and the benefits they can offer for communities
* The ability to easily communicate in English and Spanish (bilingual)
* Experience &/or training in community organizing or a related discipline required
* Experience with developing grant proposals
* Lots of creativity and a dynamic personality
