SUMMARY OF PROGRAM/PROJECT:

The HR Generalist will operate as an internal partner, working closely with Director’s, Area Managers and HR team members to ensure talent management efforts meet the immediate and long-term business needs. This role plays a pivotal role in contributing to the strengthening of our culture. This role is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level in the following HR functional areas: employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, benefits administration, and employment law compliance. The role is diverse and challenging with high levels of autonomy and varying levels of responsibility.

POSITION DESCRIPTION (Duties and Responsibilities):

• Improves employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems, evaluating potential solutions, implementing selected solutions, and coaching and counseling managers and employees

• Prepares resource management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends and presents on a bi-weekly basis

• Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential

• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions

• Administers the Transfer/Promotion process as designated

• Execute personnel actions under the direction of the Director of Corporate Administration to include employee

disciplinary action and termination of employment

• Administers unemployment paperwork as designated

• Investigates and reports allegations of harassment and violence under the direction of Leadership

• Handles routine employee relation matters in a timely manner

• Assists with staff development for all levels of staff within the organization through the acquisition of knowledge, skills, attitudes, abilities and competencies which result in improved job performance as assigned.

• Enhances staff competencies through the development of training activities as assigned

• Assists in planning and conducting management training and employee education on human resource related topics to include, but not limited to, New Employee Orientation/Onboarding as assigned

• Plans Company events and builds employee morale

• Attends job fairs; networks through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups and employees

• Verify security clearances and send out contingent and official offer letters; negotiates offers, start dates, etc.

• Office Management

• Greets customers and partners and prepares conference and/or training rooms for in-house meetings through front office administrator

• Performs other duties, as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University and 5 or more years in HR Administration, Talent Management and Benefit Coordination. The successful individual will have management experience, the ability to build relationships across multiple business areas and levels and can lead and influence. We are seeking a team player with entrepreneurial vision and is highly motived to support and promote a team environment and help expand our corporate capabilities through the identification, hiring and retention of key personnel.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively manage communications and stakeholder expectations at all levels of the organization

Strong facilitation skills including the ability to motivate and influence others, build effective interpersonal relationships, and able to foster and contribute to a positive and productive team environment and responsive to employee concerns and outreach

Creative and innovative, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in his/her work style to better respond to multiple requests/tasks and handle sudden changes in priorities or when encountering new/unique situations. Able to readily embrace and participate in change initiatives

Makes reasonable judgments quickly, and adjusts thinking to assimilate latest information or ideas

Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of tools, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Calendaring

Possesses analytical thinking with the ability to gather, understand, integrate, and synthesize complex information to document or make recommendations

Strong interpersonal communication skills; diplomacy, ability to maintain confidentiality and high level of professionalism required, especially the ability to advocate, negotiate, actively listen and collaborate with a variety of individuals and groups

Must be proactive, self-directed and able to work independently

Ability to travel in support of projects and business development initiatives

Clearance:

Must be able to receive a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required)

Education:

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University and 5 or more years in HR Administration, Talent Management and Benefit Coordination.

Certifications

Qualified candidates must possess at least one of the following certifications:

Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification

Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) Certifications

SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) Certification

Work Location:

Fairfax VA corporate office.

Corporate Telework policy allows one (1) day per week. (Tuesday-Thursday).
