Your Role

In order to jump start this transformation, we have created an innovation program within our Health Transformation & Network Development function called Health Reimagined where we create and pilot bold transformations in in California in service of our mission. 

The Director, Health Transformation Implementation is a multi-faceted role, reporting directly to the Senior Director, Health Transformation Implementation on the Health Transformation Acceleration team. In this role you will be part of the Health Transformation Acceleration leadership team and will be responsible for implementing Health Reimagined solutions to strategic partners and help shape the strategic direction of the program. You will be the main point of contact with specific partners, which may include health systems, pharmacy, and behavioral health partners, and physicians and medical groups. You will ultimately be responsible for the success of the pilots and achievement of objectives and agreed upon outcomes. In order to be successful, you will need to artfully and effectively coordinate the operations and technology workstreams at each pilot site, engage with and incorporate external partners, and partner with a range of stakeholders within Blue Shield of California including, but not limited to Enterprise Analytics, Customer Experience, Provider Partnerships & Network Management, Government Affairs and Finance teams.  Our leadership model is about developing great leaders at all levels and creating opportunities for our people to grow – personally, professionally, and financially. Your Work

In this role, you will:

Oversee the success of the various pilots in a specific region with health systems, pharmacy, and behavioral health partners, physicians and medical groups provider, and community partners (may also include employers, community-based organizations, and other external stakeholders).

Manage the planning, design, and overall implementation of Health Transformation and Health Reimagined workstreams in multiple pilot locations which may include engagement, collaboration, and coordination with internal and external partners.

Ensure all plans align with the Health Reimagined strategy and overall design.

Lead strategy, planning, and execution around business improvement opportunities with our Health Reimagined partners. Help create alignment on opportunities to optimize business models, incentive systems, and performance management tools.

Engage in comprehensive stakeholder engagement and environmental analysis in pilot location to identify needs and opportunities, existing resources, and gaps.  

Establish relationships and clear communication channels with all stakeholders including participants, employers, consumers, community resources, government, and agencies.   

Create clear, ongoing process for input, escalation, and re-design enabling an agile, evolving process with ability to quickly adjust and pivot to meet pilot objectives.  

Provide input on business models, incentive systems and performance management tools. Support engagement with existing and prospective Health Reimagined partners to assess and evaluate specific recommendations.

Define highly complex business and customer needs and provides analysis toward operational efficiency and drives change within the organization.

Use system thinking to facilitate the transformation of new innovative capabilities into the care delivery model and fundamentally shift the cost, quality, or experience from the model

Throughout the pilot lifecycles, support the evaluation and reporting on successes, opportunities for improvements, and learning that can be leveraged to scale or for other pilots.

Contribute to the overall strategy of the Health Reimagined program and Health Transformation strategy in partnership with other key leaders.

Manage a high performing team.

Must be able to travel up to 50%

','!*!Your Knowledge and Experience

A minimum of a master’s degree, or the equivalent

Minimum of 8 – 10 years of related experience 

Healthcare operations leadership required

Lean Sigma, Six Sigma or experience with business process management, or improvement methodologies a plus

Prior healthcare operational and management experience

Experience working in a health system, with expertise in a clinical setting preferred

Experience working in community-based organizations/services preferred

Exceptional verbal and written communication and program/project management skills, including an ability to communicate effectively at an executive level, with a keen attention to detail

Trustworthy and candid

Ability to prioritize and manage work and trade-offs against critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment

Available beyond regular office hours as needed to meet with key stakeholders

Excellent influence and engagement skills in building alignment and accountability without formal ownership or authority over talent resources

Ability to build strong and sustainable trusting relationships and the capability to interact within all levels of the organization, internally and externally

Ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff and to integrate resources on a timely and organized basis

Acumen to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously with the urgency of immediate demands on the operations

Strategic thinker who has an eye for detail, is organized, and can manage multiple programs simultaneously

Strong communicator with PowerPoint and storyboarding skills. Ability to present information clearly and concisely to various audiences

Ability to deal with highly confidential information and act as a liaison between the business leaders and other constituencies, both internal and external

Keen analytical ability to identify opportunities, patterns, trends, and develop forecasts
