Responsibilities
Humana is seeking a leader with strategic problem-solving, executive communication, and project oversight experience to ensure Humana at Home establishes and executes on key strategic priorities.
Responsibilities for the Director of Operational Effectiveness (or Director, Strategy Advancement include:
Strategy management
Collaborates with senior team members to determine and prioritize business strategies
Leads annual strategic planning processes; ensures focus on highest priorities
Defines KPIs; works with business owners to ensure delivery and provides transparency into risks, barriers, and performance / resource gaps
Surfaces and resolves key business risks; ensures timely completion of deliverables
Communications strategy and oversight
Develop and executes communications strategy to advance business priorities; including content, formats, channels
Oversees and drafts internal communications from associate- to Board-level
Synthesizes and distills key business insights; translates into associate-friendly language
Gathers feedback from multiple levels of org on effectiveness of communications; distributes surveys and analyzes results; makes recommendations for improvements and ensures they are executed
Operational execution
Oversees execution of key elements of operating model, eg, communication, stakeholder management, reporting, key meetings
Identifies gaps in operating model and solutions to address
Ensures PMO and other functional partners are executing on business priorities
Builds relationships with key stakeholders around the organization; solicits feedback and outside-in perspective on org performance
Facilitates meetings with senior leaders; brings together key leaders to drive decisions
Process oversight
Proposes the creation of new systems and processes to streamline operations; implements new processes and monitors process health
Oversees financial / billing, reporting, vendor management, and IT prioritization processes
Oversee team that manages organizational events
Assists with ad hoc and confidential projects. Must be able to handle confidential information with a high degree of professionalism and discretion
Key Qualities for candidates:
Strong executive communications, including slide-writing. Board-level slide-writing skills required
Proactive upward manager; self-starter. Independently identifies gaps and takes action to resolve; does not wait for requests. Follows up and follows through
Knows when to access SMEs (but does not need to be a SME himself / herself)
Able to leads a team of communications and operating model associates
Able to partner with cross-functional teams (eg, quality, training, recruiting)
Strategic mindset. Analytical and structured thinker
Able to link strategy with execution; makes recommendations for how to translate strategy into tangible initiatives, process changes, and novel approaches
Additional Information
For this job, associates are required to be fully COVID vaccinated or undergo weekly COVID testing and wear a face covering while at work. The weekly testing will need to be done through an approved Humana vendor, and unvaccinated associates should follow all social distancing and masking protocols if they are required to come into a Humana facility or work outside of their home.
