Position Summary
The Director, Circularity will help create and direct the implementation of UA’s circularity strategy and program. This role will help to set and will lead the execution and operationalization of Under Armour’s circularity strategy while developing key metrics and milestones, all done to ensure Under Armour meets the goals and targets in its Sustainability Strategy and ESG program. In support of our values, including Act Sustainability and Stand for Equality, this role will help to identify partners for, execute pilots of, and ultimately, scale UA’s takeback program and collaborate with the product organization on incorporating circular product creation and design principles. To achieve the mission, this teammate will need to develop a detailed knowledge of the design and product creation process, materials innovation and sourcing, global product supply, retail, e-commerce, logistics, distribution, and manufacturing across our value chain and establish key relationships across the enterprise as well as with key external circularity stakeholders. The Director will ensure that Under Armour creates and operationalizes a global circular value chain that is fit for, and adapts to, changing retail, regulatory, and sustainability environments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Work with Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) to help to evolve, refine, and continue to operationalize and implement Under Armour’s circularity vision, strategy, goals, KPIs, and directly related implementation plans, data systems integration, budgeting, and support the creation of, and provide SME content for, external communications including reporting
Direct, with cross-functional partners, the execution of pilot and then scaled and comprehensive product and go-to-market strategies, supporting circularity
Globally direct the circularity strategy and pilots, and then the scaling, of UA’s global takeback program, working with Global Retail, regional teams, and units across EMEA, APAC and NA
Build cross-functional partnerships, structures, and processes with UA leaders and teams to further integrate circularity into UA’s business models
Support engagements with key external stakeholders and memberships related to circularity
Partner with the global product supply organization to set the vision and strategy for, and support that organization to, operate and scale a best-in-class waste supply chain for footwear and apparel finished products and manufacturing materials in support of the team's circular business models, including refurbishment, donation, and recycling programs
Drive accountability of, and help set metrics for, circular supply chain operations globally to ensure annual circularity program targets are met
Provide strategic direction and collaborate with global field teams across geographies on related implementation
Develop, implement, and iterate the product sustainability strategy as necessary for the business
Project manage cross-functional teams to meet sustainable material sourcing targets and set frameworks for sustainable product attributes
Actively engage the product creation teams to utilize sustainable product attributes and follow the certification and substantiation process
Develop and implement a holistic circular economy strategy, engaging marketing, DTC, product development, design, merch, and external stakeholders
Directly manage projects to scale/start to scale circular designed products and more sustainable inputs into mainline assortments
Manage external stakeholders that support product sustainability, circular economy, and innovation
Work with direct reports and cross-functional colleagues to engage with stakeholders and utilize industry initiatives
Drive measurable behavior change, both internal/industry and consumer, by expanding and improving upon existing programs as well as developing new programs and initiatives around the circular economy
Share and disseminate best practices and technical expertise about circularity and the pivot to the circular economy
Enable all functions and business units to innovate sustainably
Work to upskill colleagues across the organization, providing the tools, resources, and training necessary to apply a circular economy lens to their work on an ongoing basis; this could mean: working with sourcing teams to prioritize non-virgin materials; training designers to make products that will be disassembled, repaired, durable or recycled; partnering with the supply chain team to establish reverse-logistics programs and end markets for materials and goods; etc.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Analysis needs to be communicated through creative, visually compelling, and data-driven storytelling to explain how actions impact performance
Demonstrate an ability to build relationships of trust with colleagues and industry peers, ideally in cross-cultural contexts
Education And / Or Experience
10 years working in circularity, product and/or design sustainability, related planning, logistics or operations preferably within the apparel, accessories and/or footwear industry
Education and specific experience in circularity, sustainability, business model innovation and/or product life cycle management
Keen ability to articulate complex topics into succinct engaging visual content to a diverse group of leaders and stakeholders
Bachelor’s degree required; Masters of Environmental Management, Sustainability, Supply Chain, Operations and/or MBA preferred
Other Requirements
Location: This role is fully remote , strong preference for this individual to reside within commuting distance from our global headquarters in Baltimore, MD
Travel: Up to 10% annually, domestic and international
