Reporting to the Firm’s Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer (CMBDO), the Senior Marketing Communications Manager (SMCM) is responsible for managing the Firm’s marketing communications processes and enabling technology, creation, development, design, approval, and distribution of the Firm’s BD/marketing campaigns across all media, including coordination with BD to ensure timely and appropriate follow-up with clients. The SMCM works collaboratively with the Firm’s business development and marketing team, lawyers, outside vendors, and consultants – and interfaces with other administrative and professional staff at all levels within the Firm. The duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
Job Functions:
Manage the process used for the development of external and internal campaigns through all phases, including content development, audience targeting, design, distribution and coordination with the BD team to ensure effective follow-up. Examples of such campaigns include all outward-facing BD/marketing efforts of the Firm’s practice groups as well as the Firm’s alumni program and internal campaigns from Professional Development, HR, Firm committees, etc.
Assess the Firm’s BD/Marketing technology stack and lead processes to upgrade the technology stack to most effectively support the Firm’s go-to-market strategy. Ongoing, manage the relationships with all technology providers.
Manage the design and design relationships of all Firm internal and external communications, print and electronic collateral, recruiting materials, event invitations, business cards, and Choate-branded merchandise to ensure consistency with the Firm’s brand.
Continuously measure and make improvements to our use of communications vehicles to ensure more effective, intelligent, and integrated use of the full range of communications channels, including social media.
Manage the Firm’s website to ensure that it effectively supports the Firm’s positioning and relevant experiences, including analytics and recommendations for both improvement and follow-up activities.
Oversee social media initiatives including design concepts for posting and generating ideas for campaigns.
Develop internal communications programs that help facilitate greater cross-practice collaboration.
Develop and build an image bank of photography and other appropriate images to support the Firm’s positioning on the website and in all relevant media.
Oversee and manage marketing assistant to both facilitate the professional development and growth of direct report(s) and ensure timely and accurate delivery of projects.
In collaboration with the BD team:
Lead the assessment and continuous enhancement of all of our credentials materials – including website, pitch materials and all forms of social media – to assure that all written materials reflect a clear brand position and a common, distinct voice.
Work in conjunction with individual lawyers and marketing managers/marketing staff to effectively communicate firm’s credentials in response to Requests for Proposals and pitch opportunities to drive business development efforts.
Identify, research, analyze, and implement awards/directory-related opportunities/strategies to credibly raise firm’s/individual lawyers’ visibility and name recognition.

Qualifications:
Possesses a working knowledge of the full range of marketing technology platforms, including CRM, ERM, experience databases, email distribution, etc.
Enthusiastic and hands-on team member.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications or a related field. MBA, not required, but preferred.
10 years of experience in marketing within a professional services environment, with responsibility for managing the communications function.
Strong analytical and reporting skills using tools such as Excel and Google Analytics.
Detail-oriented, flexible, ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities with limited supervision.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to identify and assess the needs and expectations of attorneys and develop responsive solutions.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including a strong knowledge of grammar and exceptional spelling and proofreading abilities.
Ability to deal with multiple constituencies in a demanding professional environment.
Knowledge and experience in social media, event management and business development.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Database, Photoshop, InDesign, Vuture, and website content management systems.
Physical Requirements:
Must have minimal physical mobility. Position may occasionally require standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
Must have the ability to operate equipment such as a computer and copy machine.
Must have the ability to communicate clearly and to read and follow detailed instructions.
Must have the ability to prepare assorted documents and other related materials.
Must have the ability to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.
