Job Summary

Responsible for performing risk assessments of key accounts and financial reporting processes for the Comcast enterprise. Includes identifying potential risks and assessing the controls environment in our businesses. The position will play an important role in helping to comply with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. The key aspects of this role will entail performing risk assessments and collaboration with cross-functional teams within Corporate Accounting & Reporting and the divisions. This position will lead a team of two people.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Lead the initiative to develop and implement a risk assessment framework to evaluate financial statement line items and the related accounting, financial reporting, processes, and information systems. Requires understanding of complex accounting matters.

Apply professional judgement to assess risks and the controls environment.

Recommend opportunities for improvement as it relates to internal controls, financial reporting and accounting operations.

Collaborate with internal controls team to evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal control activities.

Lead the initiative to operationalize the strategic risk assessment process, which includes partnering with cross-functional teams within Corporate Accounting & Reporting and the divisions, such as, the External Reporting team, Accounting Policy team, Consolidations team and divisional Controllership teams. Includes recommending opportunities for improvement and implementing ways to drive consistency, efficiencies and simplification in our accounting, financial reporting and processes.

Perform accounting research and peer reviews as needed to strengthen knowledge on accounting topics and industry views.

Monitor the changing business environment and emerging risks for financial reporting.

Lead a team of two people, which includes managing responsibilities and providing support, coaching and guidance.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Support department leadership with other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

12 years of relevant professional experience, such as public accounting, controls and compliance experience, or technical accounting, and previous management responsibility

Solid understanding of US GAAP, SOX, COSO, and SEC rules and regulations

Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills

Team leader with strong ability to prioritize, plan, lead and implement projects

Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment

Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
