Description:
This position reports to the Senior Director, US Public Policy and may be based in Washington, DC or Summit, NJ. The Director, hematology policy will support the work of the Bristol Myers Squibb hematology franchise including: access and reimbursement related policy support for upcoming hematology product launches; identification of proactive opportunities to preserve and enhance patient access to the company’s innovative hematology portfolio and development of BMS policy thought leadership around issues impacting hematology patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
o Lead BMS strategy related to access and reimbursement for the company’s innovative CAR T cell therapy portfolio including policy development, external stakeholder engagement and communication with CMS, HHS and other agencies
o Serve as a liaison to biopharmaceutical trade associations on issues directly impacting hematology franchise including policy changes to Medicare Part D
o Provide counsel to BMS hematology leadership regarding ways to positively shape the access environment for patients
o Partner with Bristol Myers Squibb value and access team to evaluate the impact of policy changes to the hematology business
o Serve as subject matter expert on Medicare coverage and payment policy in order to inform upcoming product launches
Requirements:
o 5-7 years demonstrated experience in public policy, health policy, health economics, or related fields; knowledge of federal healthcare programs including expertise in Medicare payment policy
o Excellent verbal, analytical, written and interpersonal communication skills, particularly in interpreting and distilling complex information
o Knowledge of pharmaceutical business model and ability to evaluate how policy proposals will impact commercial success
o Experience in the development of diverse coalitions to achieve healthcare policy objectives.
o Excellent organizational and project management skills—demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple work streams
o Demonstrated commitment to ensuring patient access to innovative medicines and the importance of a thriving biopharmaceutical industry
