Description
The Office of Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) designs strategies to help Humana achieve successful business outcomes; equips business function areas to build and cultivate a diverse and inclusive culture representative of the communities we serve and influences leaders to demonstrate inclusive leader behaviors. Our purpose is to drive inclusive and belonging behaviors through leader and associate experiences that will accelerate individual performance and development and move Humana forward. Together with key partners like the Executive I&D Council, Network Resource Groups, Business-Aligned I&D Councils, and Culture & Engagement professionals, we strive to maximize our vibrant diversity and inclusive culture to help the communities we serve achieve their best health.
Responsibilities
The Director of External Partnerships and Community Engagement is a key leader within the Office of Inclusion and Diversity. The incumbent will be responsible for driving enterprise-level partnerships and engagement initiatives aligned with the enterprise I&D strategy.
The position will report to Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding and willingness to engage in the transformative work of inclusion, diversity, culture and supplier diversity. The incumbent will be responsible for expanding and informing community partners of our long-term strategic business goals. Qualifications for the position include extensive career experience, existing networks with business partners, and superlative communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Manages and develops relationships with key external partners and vendors in alignment with Inclusion and Diversity strategic initiatives: diverse talent strategy, sponsorships, culture, supplier diversity and business support
Identifies external partners aligned to enterprise leader, regional and business-aligned I&D strategies. Develops, maintains and socializes a state-by-state community stakeholder playbook for key internal partners. Defines the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for strategic initiatives and quarterly development milestones
Manages external partnership including DiversityInc, OneTen, Catalyst, Executive Leadership Council, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, American Indian Tribal College Consortium, the Louisville Upskilling Coalition, Human Rights Campaign, National Bar Association, AARP, Disability Coalition, Out and Equal, Women's Business Collaborative, Civil Rights Organizations, Supplier Diversity Partnerships, and Trade Groups representing diverse populations (e.g. nurses, accountants, IT, and lawyers)
Evaluates, calendars, prepares and submits key inclusion and diversity-focused surveys and external benchmarking. The candidate partners with other departmental stakeholders, such as communications, marketing, human capital analytics, and brand protection to achieve stated survey and benchmarking objectives.
Collaborates with internal partners to develop solutions that align with Humana's enterprise business goals. Examples of internal partners include Diverse Talent Strategy, Executive Recruiting, Talent Management, Supplier Diversity, Culture and Engagement, NRGs, Communications, Sponsorships, and Executive I&D Council.
Leverages innovative solutions to create efficiencies for internal and external collaboration
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree required
10 years of experience creating and building relationships with strategic partners
Ability to understand, articulate and champion the Office of Inclusion and Diversity's strategic plan; allocate resources consistent with strategic objectives for long-term success; and facilitate strong governance practices in partnership with full team and goals
Experience working with marginalized communities and community groups (including communities of color, women, LGBTQ, disability, and multigenerational), as well as a demonstrated ability to build and maintain these relationships
Ability to communicate effectively and transparently with community stakeholders to generate shared understanding and commitment to the organization's goals for partnership and objectives
Ability to collaborate with other departments, external non-profits, educational organizations and community leaders to maximize the Humana Foundation's impact on areas of acute health needs
Demonstrated experience interacting with and advising Director, VP and C-level executives in a dynamic, matrixed, global environment
Expertise in program management, especially in initiatives that impact large groups and require cross-functional partnership
Knowledge of (and willingness to learn) public policy and business challenges
Strong conceptual and creative thinker with an ability to identify trends and interrelationships
Creative problem-solving, negotiation, and multi-tasking skills in time-sensitive settings
Ability to clearly and persuasively communicate ideas, insights, and strategy across geographies and at all levels of the organization, in a way that influences people to act
A team player with demonstrated skills in relationship-building and influencing clients, partners, and people from various backgrounds and cultures

Experience leading and executing inclusion, diversity, and equity initiatives
Change Management or Organization Development/Effectiveness experience

Effective organizational skills. Ability to develop long-term plans, set objectives and track progress across goals
Preferred Requirements
Advanced degree is preferred
Experience leading, managing and collaborating within a team
Location: Prefer Louisville, KY or Washington DC but candidates can potentially work remotely from any location
Experience working in a fast-paced matrixed organization, with proven ability to work collaboratively through various departments and functional areas, promoting a culture of proactive teamwork
Experience developing and managing strategic advocacy activities that achieve desired outcomes
Extensive experience writing and developing effective and motivating content for advocacy activities
Understanding of advocacy activities at federal, state and local levels
Demonstrated experience with a variety of strategic partnership roles including workforce initiatives, special events, corporate giving, and promotion

Travel required up to 30% or more, based on need
Location: Prefer Louisville, KY or Washington DC but candidates can potentially work remotely from any location
For this job, associates are required to be fully COVID vaccinated, including booster or undergo weekly COVID testing and wear a face covering while at work. The weekly testing will need to be done through an approved Humana vendor, and unvaccinated associates should follow all social distancing and masking protocols if they are required to come into a Humana facility or work outside of their home.
