What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for a thoughtful and results-driven leader with experience running multiple engineering teams working independently on a portfolio of products under common architectural direction. This individual will be part of the Portfolio Leadership Team, which is fully accountable and responsible for delivering value to business stakeholders in that Portfolio.

This person is a maker by training and background and has experience achieving results via their teams, leading by example with individual technical contributions where necessary. They are comfortable translating strategic objectives to tactical plans and delivering on those plans. This role will require the individual to implement and manage the technology supporting our Marketing and Admissions functions (collectively Pre-Enrollment).

The Pre-Enrollment Portfolio Leadership Team (PLT) is responsible for:

Strategy (appropriate allocation of capital to value oriented business objectives)

Operations (ongoing delivery of planned work while minimizing the impact of unplanned work)

Team (recruitment, retention and training of world class software development teams)

Budget (managing budgets within allocated ranges)

As part of the PLT, this individual will drive the performance of the portfolio across these 4 areas, with specific (but not limited) ownership of the “Operations” rhythm in the portfolio. Above all, this person cares about delivering quality technology solutions in a sustainable and timely manner. They have experience in, and passion for, building and running effective teams that deliver and thrive.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

Working closely to support the Product Portfolio Manager to set the strategic roadmap for the portfolio

Coordinating their teams to design, execute and deliver software technology in alignment with the strategic roadmap

Ensuring that Operational performance in the portfolio is continually managed and improved

Leading and improving the functional performance of the software engineering teams in the portfolio

Working closely with the Software Architect to design and deliver technology in accordance with Enterprise architectural standards

Hiring, engaging, and developing members of their teams. Assisting with hiring on adjacent teams.

Collaborating with other Portfolio Leadership teams.

Things That Should Be In Your Background:

At least 10 years of software engineering or technology focussed leadership experience is required.

This individual must have managed medium to large sized, globally deployed software engineering teams including a mix of on premises and remote team members.

This individual must be able to demonstrate effective technology leadership in complex, multi service enterprises with complex stakeholder requirements.

This individual must be able to demonstrate leadership in implementing large, complex software or technology projects.

They should demonstrate experience in partnering with executive level stakeholders to define and deploy software or technology to solve specific business objectives. A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or adjacent ICT fields is preferred.
