Job Summary:

Reporting to Engineering Execution Center Manager, responsible for managing a group of engineering professionals in mechanical, structural and instrumentation fields and piping, vessels and structural designers and drafters. Ultimate responsible for the quality of the engineering being executed and delivered by the team.

The Discipline Engineering Manager is expected to exercise discretion and independent judgement, compare and evaluate outcomes, take decisions on occasions without approval of direct manager, in matters related to mechanical, structural and instrumentation engineering and piping design.

The role must provide training and support to the team, and junior engineers, on technical matters related to mechanical, structural and instrumentation engineering.

Role and Responsibilities:

Lead technical activities and provide guidance on mechanical, structural, instrumentation and piping design fields, facilitate the integration of the team with other teams in the Engineering Center and other project areas.

Keep abreast of Industry Code and Guidelines.

Ensure compliance with Process Systems procedures, as well as with applicable Client technical specifications.

Assist team and projects with the interpretation and clarification of applicable industry Codes and Client Specification requirements.

Review, validate and monitor work of mechanical, structural and instrumentation engineers.

Review, validate and monitor work on packages and modules of piping designers and drafters.

Advise and assist team, projects and construction managers, QA/QC, and sub-suppliers with the interpretation and clarification of construction documents.

Provide support Facilities Group and Proposal Groups as required.

Ensure engineers within the team provide input to the Lessons learned process and utilize findings from the process to update tools and processes.

Give support and guidance to the team on how to follow up vendors when outsourcing works.

Assist in developing standards for all products.

Manage resources in mechanical, structural and instrumentation engineering and piping design, allocating resources to projects as required.

Plans activities for short and long terms goals.

Participate in continuing education to maintain professional status as required by licensing authorities and to enhance professional skills.

Assist mechanical, structural and instrumentation engineers in creating or checking the Design Basis documents specific to the project. The document is based on the applicable Codes, client specifications, business line scope of supply, and approved exception list.

Assist mechanical engineers in performing or checking ASME VIII-1/2, EN 13445 and PD5500 Code calculations with all applicable design loads and design combinations in accordance with the Design Basis.

Assist mechanical engineers in performing or checking vessel support design and design of lifting devices, as required.

Recommend alternate designs or materials of construction to meet service requirements and optimize engineering costs.

Monitor due dates for releasing engineering documents as required.

Estimate engineering hours for proposal and projects as required. Monitor engineering hours used by the team. Monitor forecasted engineering hours vs budget engineering hours on mechanical, structural and instrumentation engineering as well as piping design.

Ensure engineering documents are accurate, comply with company standards and policies, and protect and secure confidential and proprietary information.

Follow company tools and procedure and ensure team follows them as well.

Undertake performance appraisals of the teams and set objectives and development goals.

Participate and provide input as required in 3D design reviews.

Participate in Client meetings as required to provide technical input and execution guidance.

Actively promote and support individuals with the SETC process.

Undertake root cause analysis and provide reports to non-conformances identified on projects.

Assist with recruitment and undertake interviews as required. Travel to sub-supplier, fabricator or job site as required to undertake FAT’s, problem solving etc. as required

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, with 15 years’ experience in oil and gas industry engineering.

Knowledgeable in the ASME B&PV Code Section VIII, Div.1/2, EN 13445 and PD5500 Code and ASME B.31-3 Standards. As well as relevant knowledge and experience with Process / Production Equipment related codes in areas of API, NACE, AISC, NEC, ATEX, ASCE, NFPA, ISA, PIP, BS/IS/EN, etc.

In depth knowledge of national and international codes and standards of field process equipment, shop fabrication procedures, and inspection and NDE requirements.

Good knowledge of technical aspects of oil and gas products and processes (Process Systems products/processes preferred).

Experience with commercial engineering design programs such as SACS/ STADD, Compress, AVEVA, Inventor, CadWorks, Caesar

Ability to utilize MS Office 365 software and tools

Communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals outside the Company.

Communication skills, to interact and manage a multicultural team.

Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
