JOB SUMMARY
Oversees the delivery of patient care through subordinate staff and managers. Establishes operational goals, objectives and budgets for multiple complex departments. Responsibilities include establishment and implementation of optimal operating policies and procedures required to deliver quality patient care and appropriately manager resources. Communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, coaches and problem solves with reporting staff to ensure that goals, objectives, and budgets are met. Works cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders to plan for new health care services and performance improvement initiatives. Effectively represents Carilion Clinic within the healthcare community and to the public.
The Senior Director of CTaC must be knowledgeable in command center operations and have the ability to develop strategic goals aligned with service line and/or system strategy. The ability to develop leaders and conduct leadership development activities is essential. Expertise in public speaking, robust presentation experience, and public relations are highly desired. High level communication skills and abilities to various levels of the organization Throughput and flow experience, including capacity management are essential. High abilities using emotional intelligence and the ability to problem solve in high pressure environments. Knowledge and use of high reliability organization principles. Inter-departmental leadership and engagement of team members. Ability to work cross departmentally. Teletracking software experience and EMS/Transport communications center management and knowledge strongly preferred. Translates data into information to support decision making. Education: Master's degree required. If the area(s) of responsibility employ and have responsibility for supervising RNs: a Master's degree is required and a nursing degree at the minimum of the BSN level is required for Magnet compliance pending the area is within the Magnet scope.
Experience: 5-7 years experience in management, preferably health care environment, demonstrating increased and/or diversified responsibility for related services.
Licensure: Registered Nurse required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Advanced leadership, planning and organizational skills to manage multiple and potentially large, complex departments and to direct the successful completion of initiatives and achievement of fiscal goals. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication abilities to support and promote a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence. Proven skills in clinical, operational and human resource management, including staffing, planning, performance management, team work and process improvement.
