Job Purpose – Summary - Responsibilities:
To monitor all things related to cattle procurement at that location and in doing so understand the type of program cattle that are needed to be procured to fill our customers’ needs specific to that plant location.
For example: Natural both GAP and Verified, NHTC, Beta Free, Progressive Beef, Farm Check, Beef Quality Assurance, Beef Quality Assurance Transportation and Beef Care.
Manage approximately ten Senior Cattle Buyers and a Cattle Buyer in the assigned cattle feeding region, along with the Scale house Coordinator at the plant located in that same region.
Management duties will include preparing evaluations of all the direct reports utilizing the Tyson systems.
Additional duties will include:
To fill in and work with corporate in the event of job vacancies which will include attending daily meetings in those roles and making key decisions on the purchase of cattle at the expected EBIT.
This position will need to be available to attend local, state, or national industry events representing the company and being prepared to speak on the company’s behalf.
Requirements:
Education/Certifications: Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience: 5 years of cattle buying experience required. IBP or Tyson cattle buying experience preferred.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills. Microsoft Office Applications, Web based communication platforms, willing to learn others as they become available.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal presentation skills, excellent customer interaction skills and strong writing skills
Special Skills: Creative problem solving a must, along with strong math skills.
Supervisory: Yes
Travel: Travel will be required when evaluating buyers, filling in during buyer vacancies, or attending industry events; must be willing to travel with little notice.
