POSITION PROFILE
Manages all aspects of a specific manufacturing value stream (includes Metal Fabrication, Paint, and Assembly operations). Provides expertise and support in all areas of responsibility to assure the value stream meets its performance objectives related to customer satisfaction, associate satisfaction, and financial performance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
• Ensure the safety of the associates working in the value stream.
• Develop Value Stream Vision to align with overall Manufacturing Operations Vision. Plan work activities and resources to ensure orders are completed to meet customer delivery requirements.
• Develop and maintain easy to understand methods to track and communicate value stream key metrics. Instill understanding of these metrics and have an ability to influence all associates in the value stream. Track metrics visibly and institute methods to engage associates in discussing successes and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and ensure that work processes support the manufacture of products that meet quality standards.
• Coordinate with other Manufacturing Manager(s) to establish resource allocation as customer demand changes to ensure overall operations success.
• Select, develop, manage, and mentor Shift Supervisors. Timely completion of annual performance reviews, and develop career growth plans for Supervisors.
• Develop processes to ensure the career growth of hourly associates through cross training and promoting opportunities to become involved in continuous improvement programs.
• Drive year over year improvement in scrap reduction, quality improvements, labor efficiency, safety performance, etc. Manage and “own” the financial budget for value stream.
• Acts as a member of the Muskegon Leadership Team. As a team member, participate in policy discussions and plant programs to improve the overall plant performance. Balance the needs of the Value Stream vs. the needs of the operation as a whole.
• Challenge status quo; explore new technologies and ways of doing business.
• Actively participate in new product development programs. Lead operations team to support new product manufacturing activities ensuring that products are able to be manufactured in a safe, environmentally friendly, efficient, and quality conscious way.
• Champion continuous improvement projects in value stream. Lead specific projects as required.
• Be intimately involved in value stream mapping, determining current state, envision future state, and develop transition plan. Analyze options and determine cost/benefit results of options in determining best courses of action. Champion and lead implementation of current to future state transition plans.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Value Stream Manager.
