The Senior Club Innovation Manager, reporting to the Director of Innovation SS&P, will be responsible for strategy and development of innovation projects for the Club Sales Teams. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for working as a liaison between the Club Sales Teams and the Channels Innovation team for communication of strategic direction relative to innovation, renovation, and packaging for each specific customer. The Sr Manager will play a large role in the development of P&Ls for each new project ensuring alignment with company objectives for Annual Operating Plan. This role will also have a specific focus on managing and driving specific Costco innovation projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Laser focus on execution of volume driving meaningful innovation initiatives for the Strat Plan “Must Win” customers within the channel, specifically Club customers – Sams, Costco and BJs.
Strategic Development of Customer / channel opportunities.
Prioritization of the initiatives in the work plan / funnel for maximum fiscal impact.
Challenge processes for increased agility in go to market strategy:
Engagement of the Project Manage Office (PMO team) to navigate complexities and capacities of the projects.
Secure alignment and sense of urgency with Channels Innovation and the PMO team on critical reset timelines to ensure on time 1st ships.
Execution through Sales TEAMS back to / through customer
Frequent interaction with the VP of Club/Specialty for key project updates
Manage the development and introduction of new products in cooperation with Channels Innovation, the BU and R&D to provide an ongoing pipeline (18 months – minimum) of channel differentiated products, each meeting target consumer growth initiatives and offering the highest competitive value.
Work daily with the sales organization to ensure corporate objectives are met and that our strategies and programs are effectively implemented.
Partner with Customer Team and BU to ensure projects are in place to address three pillars of customer Innovation growth:
Customer/Channel Specific Innovation; Corporate Platform Innovation; Core Renovation.
Lead Cross Functional Connectivity - Key conduit between Customer Team, BU/Marketing and Sales Services/Planning.
Owns communication and alignment with internal partners to meet expectations.
Plays primary role in customer engagement relative to innovation/renovation projects.
Educate and inform cross functional partners on DVD customers, distribution models, go to market strategy, opportunity areas and customer strategic initiatives.
Seek out innovative ideas/trends in marketplace via retail visits for presentation to the organization for directional feedback.
Facilitate development of insights, sales materials (i.e. sell sheets), and samples to assist in sell in process.
Orchestrate, organize and drive Customer Innovation Summits and R&D visits.
Provide technical expertise and/or engage internal constituents where necessary to facilitate presentation to key customers when required.
Requirements
Education: 4-year college degree
Experience: 6 plus years of relevant marketing, sales, finance or operations experience is required.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills (exceptional listening skills, persuasive and professional communicator) are required. Previous customer presentation/management is preferred
Computer Skills: Proficient in Excel & PowerPoint
Special Skills:
Demonstrated understanding and application of P&L financials and trade is required.
Knowledge of internal systems and processes.
Demonstrated strength in strategic thinking with a consumer lens is required.
Demonstrated strength in managing and driving projects forward is required.
Proven track record in managing and meeting volume and profit targets through creative development of new products is preferred.
