Product Marketing Manager
responsible for
Portworx
, you will develop and execute our competitive strategy for Pure’s Cloud Native business Unit. We are looking for an extremely technical and business savvy leader to deliver competitive intelligence, competitive positioning, field/partner enablement and technical benchmarking against vendors in the cloud native ecosystem. A deep understanding of alternate deployment choices to Portworx that address real customer use cases and challenges is important for success in this role; as we help the world’s biggest brands and companies simplify and build a data platform for their modern applications.
This role reports into the Director of Product Marketing for Portworx and has the primary responsibility for evangelizing the competitive positioning of Portworx, as part of Pure’s cloud native solutions. It would be up to this individual to drive market awareness and adoption of the Portworx portfolio by developing technical and innovative content from a competitive positioning standpoint. The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate an understanding of the modern cloud native stack (Kubernetes, open-source data services, CSI storage plugins, etc.), modern data protection, and be able to translate them into relatable, consumable content for customers as well as Pure’s sales teams. This is a highly cross-functional role where you will collaborate with other product marketing leads, product management, technical marketing, demand generation, sales, and corporate marketing to build and execute the competitive strategy for the entire Portworx portfolio. You will:
Build competitive strategy and competitive programs including sales enablement for cloud native specialists, core sellers and partners; and lead the competitive intelligence and positioning efforts for Portworx.
Be an evangelist in the cloud native events and space for the entire Portworx portfolio, which includes our solutions for data management, data protection, database-as-a-service and disaster recovery.
Channel the voice of the customer—understand the pain points and aspirations of the target buyer and user personas.
Work closely with product management and technical marketing teams to translate the technical vision into competitive differentiation, as new products/services are introduced.
Create, define, and own the competitive content machine for the entire Portworx portfolio. Communicate key research findings to internal stakeholders, through presentations, key CI assets such as battlecards, objection handling guides, competitive positioning guides and sales play books.
Work closely with the demand generation, events, and field marketing teams to ensure that competitive collateral is strong and available for field and partner teams.
Show your creative flair with visual representation of competitive intelligence and competitive positioning messages and create the “aha” moment for your audience.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE (Qualifications)
12 years of experience in a product marketing, technical marketing, solution architect or product management role for Cloud or SaaS products.
Demonstrated success in competitive positioning, competitive intelligence, competitive strategy and leading field/partner enablement programs is key.
Recognized as a strong technical evangelist and content writer in the cloud native world
Strong aptitude for translating technical differentiators into competitive positioning materials, while also have the technical chops to conduct benchmarking against competitors cloud native platforms
The desire to redefine the benchmark for excellence, be part of something big and learn as much as you can in the process
Strong domain experience within the Kubernetes ecosystem or modern Databases
Knowledge of key target audience: DevOps, Kubernetes, cloud architects, SREs, and IT infrastructure managers
MS degree or equivalent in a STEM field
Pure Storage applies a geographic based pay structure depending on an employee’s location. For applicants located in Colorado (as required by SB19-085):
The annual minimum base salary range is: $129,000 - $194,000. This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
