Summary
The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis leads the consolidated budgeting, forecasting, long term planning and business strategic analysis for 2U. This role is inherently cross-functional—this leader will work closely with the Business Unit leaders, Accounting, Shared Service and Functional support teams as well as Executive Leadership. A successful candidate will be highly analytical, resourceful, team oriented, and will have an ability to work independently under time constraints to meet deadlines.
The role will conduct financial analysis, modeling, forecasting and reporting to ensure efficient financial operations. Develops budgets/policies/procedures and will manage the annual budget process. The role focuses on delivering business value to drive forecasts, improve efficiency, and improve stakeholder satisfaction through the production of quality financial forecasting tools.
The leader will have a proven track record in taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
Maintaining and updating financial planning models to manage effective forecasting and budgeting processes
Providing oversight over the review and analysis of monthly financial results
Planning, reviewing and assisting with the preparation of key elements of the annual budget
Develop presentation material for executive management of financial results, forecasts and annual budget
Creating and automating the preparation of key monthly management reports including quarterly playbook
Ability to apply a range of budgeting and forecasting techniques to provide the business with the relevant financial information.
Work to develop and continuously improve the services performed by Finance, constantly seeking further efficiency and effectiveness through standardization, simplification and elimination as appropriate
Assisting in the development and implementation of processes to measure and improve our operational efficiency
Working closely with senior leadership to prepare financial forecast models and review effectiveness of investment decisions relative to costs
Ad hoc special projects and analyses for label and senior management
Creating and driving a metrics-led continuous process improvement driving innovation
Review the departmental goals and translate into a logically sequenced and optimized action plan and oversee the adherence to the plan
Preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts
Proactively identifies and resolves strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial and technical goals
Responsible for ensuring stakeholders are utilizing financial tools appropriately
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics strongly preferred
7 years of experience directly related to the responsibilities required of the position
Excellent experience of planning, budgeting, forecasting, and producing management information for decision making in a complex environment.
Adaptive Planning experience strongly preferred
Experience developing and delivering presentations to various audience levels within an organization.
Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
Experience collaborating with internal and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.
Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
