Job Description:
A unique opportunity to understand the bigger picture for one of the world’s largest companies. You’ll employ your proven project management and problem-solving skills to help some of Shell’s most senior people determine our future direction.
Where you fit in
Join us in this highly engaging and influential role and you’ll be part of Shell’s Global Functions (GF) Strategy Consulting Practice. Reporting into the GF CIO, the Strategy Consultancy Practice helps Shell’s Global Functions (HR, Finance, Legal and Corporate) to deliver technology-enabled business strategies.
What’s the role?
To help us deliver a must-have learning experience in strategy for future Shell leaders, you’ll be trained in the McKinsey methodology of problem solving. You’ll apply these techniques to act as a facilitator, an advisor, a catalyst and a consultant, helping Shell’s senior decision makers to create business value and set our future direction.
Specifically, you’ll be helping to shape our functional IT strategies – both the IT technology strategy itself and the associated organisational capabilities, processes, sourcing, finance and governance. You’ll work on a broad range of assignments simultaneously. Our IT Leadership and Business interface teams will look to you to redefine problems, provide clear, actionable, business-based recommendations, and to bring internal and external data and fresh perspectives to bear on their strategic thinking.

What we need from you
You’ll need to be of graduate calibre (in IT) with awareness of a wide range of IT/digital technologies and the different models, tools and methods used in the consultancy world. You’ve sharpened your project management and problem-solving skills working in planning, strategy or consultancy, and shown you can analyse business models and ecosystems, synthesise strategic recommendations and confidently present your findings, both in person and on paper.

McKinsey experience would be an asset.
On top of that, it’s vital that you’ve demonstrated you can do as many of the following as possible:
Understand and apply the terminology, metrics, and calculations relevant to business-specific measures and KPIs, such as return on investment (ROI), stakeholder value, benefits realisation and capability improvement.
Execute and drive decisions, even when there’s ambiguity or incomplete information.
Harness your creativity and other people’s to generate new problem-solving approaches.
Achieve results working virtually and through others; you’re collaborative and customer-centric.
Remain focused and productive under pressure and recover quickly from setbacks; you’re happy managing several undertakings at once.
