Production Supervisor

Job Details:

SUMMARY : Supervises and coordinates daily activities of hourly workers. Engage in verifying and keeping records of incoming and outgoing shipments, preparing items for shipment, waste recovery, whole bird production, and whole bird hanging on the cut-up line.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:

· Promote safety throughout assigned work area.

· Ensure reporting requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner.

· Work with Quality Assurance ensuring a food safe and sanitary environment within specifications and USDA requirements.

· Establish and adjust procedures meeting production schedules, production efficiencies, and budget objectives

· Maximize yields and throughputs while minimizing downtime, accidents and turnover through encouragement and team building.

· Ensure compliance with established food safety programs, including HACCP programs, SSOPs and GMPs

· Ensures the area is ready for the day’s production inclusive of staffing

· Control waste including product, supplies, and management of associate hours

· Responsible to develop, train and execute production processes and procedures

· Complete end of the day paperwork

· Other duties as assigned

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:

· In the absence of the Fabrication Supervisor, the area leads will take on all duties, including those quality and food safety related, conducted by the Production Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience :

· Degree in management or related field or equivalent experience

· A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a meat processing facility or equivalent preferred

Communication Skills:

· Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language to communicate well.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Working knowledge of Microsoft office

· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

· Stand/Walk: Frequent

· Sit: Occasional

· Lift/Carry: Occasional (1- 50 lbs.)

· Other Physical Requirements:

o Bend/stoop, squat, climb (up to 3 ft), reach above shoulder (up to 5 ft.), push/pull: Occasional.

o Grasp, push: Occasional

· Environment: Marked changes in temperature and humidity, exposure outside condition: occasional, some office work
