with the

Vice Provost for Student Success

. The Director will work in collaboration with the Student Advocacy Resource Center (SARC), Title IX/EO, Human Resources, the Office of Organizational Learning and Development, and the Director of Inclusive Excellence, to plan, implement, and assess diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programming and education to students, faculty, and staff.

The purpose of this role is to create a university-wide environment of inclusion and respect, ultimately improving student retention and completion. The Director will work collaboratively with colleagues to coordinate student services, advocacy, program development, and program improvement. The Director will also work across teams with systems administrators, operations, and other departments to advance a comprehensive and successful approach to DEI program implementation, helping to deliver on the goals of the UM Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan. The Director will report to the Associate Vice Provost for Student Success.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

Coordinate and implement university-wide prevention and DEI programming and training for students, staff, and faculty, including but not limited to bystander intervention, new student orientation, new employee orientation, and university-wide trainings/in-services.

Co-develop and implement program specific policies and procedures.

Work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds and experiences to create positive outcomes for students.

Coordinate and oversee communications including the program website and social media platforms.

Coordination and/or implementation of direct advocacy and/or counseling services to students, staff, and faculty during office hours and on-call after hours, including informal resolutions in collaboration with Title IX.

Prepare, collect, distribute, and summarize surveys and other data to maintain accurate and up to date program records.

Position Details

Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.

Salary for this position is $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Required Skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills, rooted in regarded pedagogy, as demonstrated by at least two (2) years’ experience in curriculum /programming development and its dynamic, multi-faceted delivery to diverse and varied audiences.

Demonstrated time management skills and ability to establish department priorities.

Fluency in national and college campus prevention of sexual assault, relationship violence, harassment and discrimination, including demonstrated competency in issues of protected-class identity, together with demonstrated appreciation and capacity for nuance regarding constituent communities of and within the University of Montana.

Ability to represent the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Success effectively, compellingly, collaboratively, and in accordance with the mission, priorities, and policies of the University of Montana.

Understanding of HIPAA, FERPA rules as well as Montana State Law in regards to advocacy privilege.

Working knowledge of prevailing advocacy models.

Commitment to collaborating with campus and community partners.

Awareness of their own attitudes, beliefs, biases, and assumptions about others, and the ability to manage their own behavior to create an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment for all.

Ability to develop working knowledge of University policy and federal and state law regarding civil rights, including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the Violence Against Women’s Act, the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act, the Freedom of Information Act, Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Clery Act, and the Montana Human Rights Act.

Required Qualifications

Licensed as a Mental Health Professional (Licensed Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D.) with commensurate degree, or license eligible.

Minimum of one (1) year of demonstrated managerial experience and at least two (2) years’ experience working with victims and survivors of sexual misconduct in a program setting.

Two (2) years’ experience teaching/instructing/training.

One (1) year experience in conflict response/management.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching/instructing/training in higher education.

Experience in conflict response/management regarding protected-class identity and ideally within the context of higher education.
