Job Summary

The VideoOnDemand Center-of-Excellence (VOD COE) Project Manager role at Comcast is responsible for providing uniform messaging, implementation, and delivery across all COE initiatives. Successful candidates will be able to coordinate with cross-functional team members, identify tasks, manage expectations, develop risk and communication plans, and work with external vendors, partners, and organizations. This position requires a strong project management background and ideal candidates should be familiar with agile development and software deployment. The Project Manager will work closely with our existing Scrum Master to ensure successful delivery of all COE efforts. While this is not a Scrum Master role, the successful candidate will need to know agile development methodologies well and be able to communicate effectively with the Scrum Master so that cross-functional team members are supported, tasks are identified, expectations are managed, communication and risk management plans are developed, and all COE initiatives are delivered on time. Additionally, the Project Manager will serve as the product owner for the COE team's various products and applications. Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills are essential, as well as the ability to deliver under aggressive deadline demands and competing priorities. This role covers the entire VIDEO value chain, including content ingest, encoding/packaging, metadata quality control, publishing to the CDN, and operational metrics & reporting. Appropriate management of resources is needed to process, troubleshoot, deliver, and meet content providers and Comcast business objectives. The Project Manager will help develop and execute daily metrics and reports to identify issues within the COE teams' value chain of VOD content. They will also create data and metrics to track operational workflows, maintain records of results and feedback, and analyze data and metrics to identify problem areas and provide actionable insight to management.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Facilitate the submission of well-defined user stories, Jira tickets, and requests from multiple teams by maintaining a dedicated backlog of COE asks.

Coordinate multiple projects across various engineering disciplines within the organization, often spanning multiple disciplines.

Provide day-to-day support to COE software engineering team members across time zones.

Work with the COE team to identify issues in their value chain of VOD content by developing and executing daily metrics and reports.

Responsible for this issue's closure through engagement of all appropriate resources, proper tracking, and status updates.

Communicates and manages project plans and status to a variety of audiences by providing formal briefings, project coordination meetings, and written/graphic reports, based on project plans and status.

The individual must be able to present to our teams the expectations and goals of our teams together with a roadmap of how we will achieve them.

Creates data and metrics to track operational workflows; maintains records of results and feedback. Analyzes data and metrics, identifies problem areas, and provides actionable insight to management.

Writing and distributing effective release notes and team newsletters to keep our customers informed about our projects.

Provide leadership, direction, and priorities with broad visibility into status, kpi's and other valuable metrics.

Works well with other organizations, individuals, and teams to continuously improve business processes, across both technical and operational resources.

Occasionally, cross-team meetings will require onshore travel.

Ask insightful questions and leverage team strengths to identify and resolve operational and architectural challenges for COE initiatives.

Coordinate COE efforts to build new application infrastructure, providing point of contact for team members.

Escalates issues requiring action or decisions to manager, as necessary.

Ensures that projects are integrated into operations, including instrumentation, automation, standardization, and methods/procedures.

Does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities. May direct workflow and act as a point of contact.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Qualifications:

Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills a must.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including presentations)

Excellent meeting facilitation, planning and management skills required

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Develops detailed project plans to track progress and meets with teams regularly to ensure delivery

Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities

Ability to present technical information in face-to-face presentations to varied audiences; including executive management, engineering, operations etc.

Jira ticketing, agile development, Kanban, Confluence documentation, diagrams, etc.

Familiarity with VOD concepts and terminology a plus.

Self-motivated, team player, action and results oriented
