Profile
Serve as a first-level response to questions and issues from docketing clerks
Manage daily workflow of the patent and trademark docketing teams and quality control of day-to-day docketing functions
Partner with practice group leadership, and the IP Operations Administrator, to develop and enforce best practices and process improvements to ensure high-level service is consistently provided and risk management is achieved
Facilitate development and implementation of optimal support structures to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the department; evaluate staffing requirements and make recommendations regarding staffing needs
Ensure appropriate records are maintained for patent and trademark docketing department activity, and in compliance with the firm's requirements for liability purposes
Manage client transitions, including completing portfolio imports and exports and ensure that files are properly reviewed for accuracy and timely input of matter information
Work collaboratively with the IP Product Specialist to maintain and enhance Anaqua docketing system functionality
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in related field or education/experience equivalent required
A minimum 7 years of progressive intellectual property docketing experience
Prior supervisory experience including recruiting, employee development, training, evaluations and coaching
Thorough understanding of intellectual property docketing systems, including appropriate system policies, procedures, and controls
Knowledgeable in USPTO rules and procedures
Ability to monitor and maintain a docketing system; develop patent and trademark docketing reference materials and generate reports
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands and work under tight deadlines
Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of responsibilities and the aptitude for effective and creative problem solving
High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations with poise, tact, and diplomacy
Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, legislative and USPTO rulings impacting practice procedures
Strong change management leadership
Experience with Anaqua preferred
