The Tender Manager is responsible and accountable for the delivery of proposals ensuring:
The Tendering process and Gate System is applied to ensure all required steps are followed in the development of a proposal
Communication, engagement and alignment between the Tender Team, Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal / Contract management to ensure all content is prepared, reviewed and mutually agreed
Accuracy, completeness and timely delivery of proposals to sales team
Roles and Responsibilities:
Participate in opportunity reviews and provide input on whether to bid or decline (Gate B)
Prepare and manage tender and execution strategy including validate timelines required to develop proposals
Lead the tender team in coordination with other function heads (sales, engineering, supply chain, project services and execution)
Participates in the tender evaluation, assessment and response process with Sales & Legal to ensure Contract-related items are properly addressed. Review, raise exceptions and negotiate proposed Client Contracts in tenders
Ensure data from indicative, budgetary, and firm proposals are validated through proper tools and processes
Evaluate scope of work, benchmark against historic norms, be prepared to estimate costs where there are gaps either in our engineering or in vendor quotes, using a reasoned approach.
Apply standard work instructions to ensure the tender team follows required steps to develop proposal
Prepare and present a summary of the proposal to management for approval (Gate C)
Address Commercial clarifications and jointly with Engineering on Technical clarifications with Customers
Ensure successful proposals are handed over to Execution teams in a seamless manner
Capture lessons learned for all opportunities
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree qualified, preferably in engineering
12 years work experience in at least two of the following fields:
Mechanical Engineering / Process Engineering
Project Management
Fabrication
Tendering
Sales
Sourcing
Quantity Surveying
Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship
Preferred skills and abilities:
Knowledge of process equipment
Familiar with reviewing / complying to EPC contracts and specifications
Very good attention to detail
Organized and able to manage many competing priorities
Excellent communicator (written and verbal)
Comfortable speaking to a large senior audience
Strong commercial acumen
Able to deal with high pressure / stress and tight deadlines
Fluent in Spanish (speaking / reading / writing) is a plus
Capable of influencing a large geographically dispersed team
Comfortable working across time zones and outside of normal working day
