The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and creative Manager Systems Engineering to join our team.

You will part of the US Federal sales team and

lead a team of presales systems engineering team. It is expected that you can coach, lead and motivate the Federal Pre-Sales team and at times be called upon to perform functions of a Nutanix Systems Engineer. You will report to the Director, Systems Engineering – US Federal and will act as the Systems Engineering resource for the Sr Director, Federal Sales.

Our US Federal sales team at Nutanix is growing! We are a driven & passionate team of salespeople with a desire to disrupt the current state of the data center within Federal accounts. We are looking to expand our team to include additional A-players who are looking to bring simplicity and efficiency to a complicated world.

Your Role

The language and needs of Federal customers are unique and the industry is experiencing unprecedented change.  We want someone who will be able to clearly articulate the value of Nutanix while respecting the overwhelming needs and responsibilities the Federal Sector faces. Deep understanding of the changing environment within the Fedral sector and how the drive for simplicity, cloud-first strategies, and cost savings can be used to build positive relationships and to deliver significant sales success. 

In this role, you will support field SE team in complex evaluations, troubleshooting, and challenging customer environments. Recruit and hire new Systems Engineers and managers into the territory and provide mentorship and training to them once onboard. Build and maintain relationships with key customers in the territory. Act as a floating Systems Engineer and fill in for existing team members if there is a resource conflict or need for vacation coverage. Take ownership of ensuring channel enablement is ongoing. As well as,

Provide an escalation point for pre-sales and post-sales technical issues that arise in the territory

Foster channel partner relationships with their technical teams

Management responsibility for Systems Engineers in the territory including regular 1:1s with your direct reports, 2x2 meetings with your sales counterpart, expense management, quarterly check-ins, escalation conversations, etc

Ability to travel roughly 50% of the time within the region

What You’ll Bring

You are a humble leader with a bias for action.  Essential to success in this role is a keen ability to operate with a ‘whatever it takes' attitude and motivation to do whatever is necessary to assist in closing a deal. Nutanix provides unrivaled support and tools from the Engineering, Marketing, and Product Development departments to leverage to exceed sales performance goals. In this position you will be working very closely with organizational Executives and have a large amount of influence on decisions and initiatives.

You have 10 years of experience as a Federal Sr./Pre-Sales Systems Engineer.

You have 3-5 years of experience in a management role.

You possess deep knowledge of the virtualization and storage markets as well as design capabilities.

You have strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.

You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $211,200 and $316,800 year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
