As the Director of Engineering of Infrastructure & Shared Services, you will be leading a group of passionate software and systems engineers to deliver a modern, high quality, dynamic platform as a service globally to our internal developers. This platform provides all the crucial capabilities developers need to deliver value to Pure Storage Customers. The right candidate for this role will understand the demands of data centers and technical infrastructure, the needs of our product development lines, and is able to balance competing priorities while maintaining a healthy and collaborative culture.

Responsibilities

Provides the strategy, leadership and day-to-day management of the Engineering Infrastructure and Shared Services organization

Lead efforts to create and manage the integrated Shared Services experience required to quickly, reliably, efficiently, and securely deliver value to developers using data-driven requirements and product selection techniques

Build and manage diverse engineering teams capable of carrying out ambitious infrastructure software and hardware initiatives

Recruits and develops engineering leaders and top engineering talent in the Infrastructure and Shared Services space

Drive the execution on Infrastructure and Shared Services initiatives and projects to achieve the expected scalability, performance and availability goals

Refine and deliver on a strategy that aligns infrastructure goals to business objectives, priorities, and budgetary realities

Ensure Pure's engineering infrastructure meets environmental priorities and aligns with Corporate sustainability goals

Supports business growth initiatives from an infrastructure readiness point of view by aligning the technology vision with business strategy

Analyze and improve upon technology standards across the organization to maintain a technological and competitive edge within the market

Minimum Qualifications

12 years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree and/or 10 years of experience with an advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD

Results-oriented leadership skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high velocity business environment, to think strategically and develop solutions that can be implemented to attain desired results

Ability to break down barriers and drive for results

Champion of culture, change management and innovation

Self-motivated work ethic, demonstrating sound judgment, initiative, and an ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency and accountability

Proven track record of attracting and retaining engineering talent at all career levels

Experience managing multiple teams and product areas spanning both hardware and software through rapid growth

Track record of delivering on Diversity and Inclusion initiatives

Expertise leading large scale technology transitions and migrations

Capable of leading large engineering organizations of 125 engineers across geographies

Strong executive presence and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of Virtualization (VMware, HyperV), Containerization (Kubernetes), Cluster management solutions and Cloud technologies

Proven track record of building trust, influencing, removing roadblocks, and forging change at all levels and cross-functionally through deep technical understanding of the infrastructure domain

Leading large engineering organizations of 125 engineers across geographies

History of datacenter hardware delivery and process optimization leveraging software, automation, and other tooling technologies

Understands toil as an organizational friction and leverages software development efforts to optimize operational processes for bare metal and cloud-based environments

Experience influencing and negotiating at the industry level. Capable of negotiating partnerships and/or M&A agreements
