Job Description:

The successful candidate for this position will assist the Director of Choral Programs in the administration and direction of all choral groups and the Choral Programs on campus.

Responsibilities Include:

Assist in implementation of all strategic goals for the program, both artistic and administrative, as directed by Director of Choral Programs.

Serve as accompanist/assistant conductor of up to two choirs as assigned; lead weekly sectional rehearsals; lead rehearsals when the Director cannot be present.

Serve as primary conductor of up to two choirs as assigned. Maintain a busy performance schedule comprising on- and off-campus concerts and events (examples of oncampus events include Graduation, Academic Convocations, Baccalaureate Masses, etc.)

Assist with the semi-annual tracking of choral students through PioConnect software.

Supervise work-study students and hourly employees of the choral program; review and approve timesheets.

Assist with administration, advertising, marketing and social media for as assigned.

In conjunction with the Director of Choral Programs, assume leadership role in the individual and collaborative recruitment of vocal students through building and maintaining productive relationships with high school choral programs, to include recruitment trips, ensemble tours, conference attendance/performance, and SHU Choir events.

Support all activities of Choral Program's Student Executive Board.

Foster and maintain a working relationship with the academic music department.

Foster and maintain a working relationship with Campus Ministries to provide quality liturgical music for on-campus services.

Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills Needed:

Master's Degree in Conducting, Vocal Performance, Piano, or Organ

Demonstrated history of strong administrative and leadership skills

Significant experience directing/accompanying high school, university, or liturgical choirs; experience with a cappella groups helpful

Excellent interpersonal skills for relating to a diverse student population

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, and a professional music notation software (Finale, Sibelius,or Dorico)

Strong desire to help grow and improve the quality, diversity, and size of a university choral program with a focus on student experience

Requires a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends during the academic year
