Responsibilities
We are hiring a Sr. Portfolio Director, Pharmacy Informatics, to join the team! This is a full-time/fully remote position.The Ascension Technology (AT) Clinical Technology Experience team supports the use of hardware, software, devices, and data across the continuum of care, transforming the way Ascension delivers healthcare to millions. Areas of responsibility for the Clinical Technology Experience focus on providing our customers with two distinct capabilities supporting technology investment: 1) core business operations and 2) transformation.
The Sr. Portfolio Director, Pharmacy Informatics, will lead clinical and operational informatics and technology specialist teams engaged in strategic planning and collaborating on the efforts supporting the successful implementation of clinical technology systems across the continuum of care. Leading experienced team members who autonomously and actively drive healthcare transformation is another critical responsibility for this role, using tenets of stewardship, empowerment, and communication in building high-functioning teams.Skill Sets
Among a group of cross-functional professional colleagues, establish a strategically aligned team supporting projects in designated areas of responsibility in partnership with business and technology sponsors and stakeholders
Leads novice Clinical Technology Experience Team members in the successful delivery of new and existing initiatives for pharmacy initiatives in key business priority areas, including but not limited to supply chain, inventory optimization, 340B, waste, medication management systems, diversion, reporting, and analytics
Engage with senior leaders and professionals across the organization to convey plans, rationale, metrics, and other key factors resulting in technology adoption and acceptance in clinical and operational practice
Manage portfolio roadmap based on organizational objectives and strategy, working with Ascension Technology colleagues to gain input and alignment reflecting Pharmacy, Pharmacy Practice, Inventory Management, cost savings, revenue recognition, and regulatory compliance principles impacting pharmacy operations and medication management
Support the development of year-over-year strategic planning
Ensure discovery efforts supporting initiative proposals and business plans related to Pharmacy operations and medication management are comprehensive, sound, and reflect current and future healthcare challenges and opportunities
Accept, assign, prioritize, and manage the portfolio team in compliance with the policy and process of the Clinical Technology Experience team’s capacity and scope of work
Deliver complete and descriptive recommendations regarding initiative pilots or feasibility for technology impacting pharmacy operations and medication management as a function of business plan efforts
Act to ensure portfolio teams deliver work targeting the identification and determination of priority capabilities, workflow validation, reporting and analytics needs, safety and quality requirements, and evidence-based practice considerations in support of design, pilot/feasibility, and build efforts
Ensure that work deliverables balance enterprise needs with market customizations; analyze value and risk delivered by pharmacy operations and medication management initiatives through clinical, business, financial, and regulatory perspectives
Manage and communicate risks and mitigation strategies with Clinical Technology Experience Leadership, Internal and External Stakeholders, and other critical groups in an ongoing and ad hoc manner, supporting awareness and transparency in project metrics.
Ensure that the Clinical Technology Experience teams are empowered to act as advocates for change through the use of technology in support of clinical care delivery.
This role will be a people leader, reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Clinical Technology Experience and Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO).
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Pharmacist obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy required.
Master's degree preferred.
Work Experience:
7 years of experience required.
10 years of experience preferred.
5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
Additional Preferences
Graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) required
Specialty education in Business (MBA) or Public Health (MHA) preferred
Ten years experience directly working with and managing efforts related to pharmacy systems (manager or director) in a healthcare system or healthcare technology company required.
Demonstrated understanding of the methodologies and foundations of pharmacy practice defined by HIMSS and ASHP are essential; Having a business-oriented mindset is a must.
At least five years experience as a people leader, reflecting high-level management and team building skills, performance management, coaching, growth of junior leaders, organizational team building
The ability to structure and design information to reflect the use of quantitative data and descriptive statistics in support of metrics is required.
Ability to work within the guidelines provided for Portfolio, Program, and Project management defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI)
Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale cross-functional team projects and programs and achieve targeted deliverables in a complex health system
Business plan development, and the ability to grow and establish team knowledge and expertise in business planning, is an essential responsibility of the position
Demonstrated ability to lead teams in problem-solving, supporting the successful recognition of projects and programs in a complex health system with many constraints and ambiguous goals.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to speak clearly to a diverse group of people
Knowledgeable on technology trends, excited to help craft the future of healthcare
