Job Summary
Responsible for providing leadership and direction for team related to gathering, analyzing and interpreting information about a market, a product or service to be offered in that market and the past, present and potential customers for the product or service. Reviews and directs research into the characteristics, spending habits, location and needs of the business's target market, the industry as a whole and its competitors. Develops and implements strategy for functional area(s). May assist in developing budget and helps manage budget with team.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities
Directs the collection and analysis of relevant information concerning current and potential markets and competitors.
Delegates project responsibilities and directs subordinates, cross-functional teams and external vendors in all phases of market research, analysis and reporting.
Investigates market research technique, new trends and seeks ways to utilize research to support Company initiatives.
Trains management to use both accepted and innovative research techniques, standards and practices.
Interprets market research data for Managers to assist in their decision-making.
Oversees the execution of research projects and communicates findings to appropriate audiences.
Monitors research methods for adherence to standards and practices.
Interviews, evaluates, hires, layoffs, promotes and rewards employees. Provides feedback, coaching and disciplinary action to employees. Assists leadership with conducting performance reviews and in the recruitment of team members.
Works with divisions and regions to design data collection methods and analysis processes. Evaluates research systems and vendors.
Maintains viewership estimates; forecasts for scatter, upfront and budgeting purposes. Examines ways to improve processes and enhance accuracy.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
