Development/Advancement

Description:

Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement (VPA), the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for two equally important responsibilities:

• Identify and research potential private and corporate foundation grants to meet the University’s fundraising objectives and coordinate the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals. Assist in administering and tracking funded grants to ensure that grant awards are expended effectively and efficiently.

• Prospect, cultivate, and solicit corporate gifts and sponsorships from local and regional businesses as well as statewide and national corporations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree is required

• Experience in technical and persuasive writing or grant writing for a non-profit or government agency

• Experience in fundraising or sales

• Excellent technical and persuasive writing and verbal communication skills

• Excellent organizational skills

• Possess the capacity to articulate educational goals, objectives, budgets, evaluation methods, and desired program outcomes

• Highly proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office

• Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously

• Ability to collaborate and work effectively with staff, administrators, faculty, and alumni

• Self-motivated with the ability to work as a team member, as well as work independently to accomplish goals and reach and exceed established benchmarks

• Willingness to work evenings and weekends and be an effective manager of time

• Ability to articulate a personal faith in the Lordship of Jesus Christ and support the mission of King University

• Possess a valid state driver's license

• Must support the mission of King University

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two or more years in higher education corporate and foundation relations

• Skilled in layout and presentation, graphic design, technical documentation, problem solving, deadline-oriented, process improvement, coordination, strategic planning, market knowledge, marketing, prospecting, research, fundraising, and sales.

• Working knowledge and experience with grant programs best practices

• Working knowledge and experience in corporate gift and sponsorship programs best practices

Responsibilities:

• Lead the grants development program for the University

• Work with the Advancement team, Athletics team, faculty and staff, and other community partners to identify grant opportunities and grant funders, develop and write grant proposals, and secure funded grants from private and corporate foundations

o Research potential private and corporate foundation funding sources to meet fundraising objectives

o Work with grant agencies to obtain information about the submission of grants, deadlines, grant requirements and specifications, appropriate formats, progress reports, etc.

o Compile, write, and edit grant proposals in the required format

o Work with administrators in development of budgets and in tracking expenditures

o Facilitate long-range planning required for timely submission of applications

o Maintain records of all institutional grants

o Monitor institution-wide grant administration for effective stewardship of funding

o Establish grant production goals and objectives and meet them within established parameters

• Work with the Advancement Team, Athletics team, faculty and staff, and other community partners to identify local and regional businesses, as well as statewide and national corporations, to cultivate and solicit gifts and sponsorships

o Research local and regional businesses, as well as statewide and national corporate donor prospects

o Work with stakeholders to develop a prospecting, cultivation, and solicitation plan for identified prospects

o Conduct prospecting, cultivation, and solicitation visits both individually and as a coordinated effort with key stakeholders

o Prepare written gift proposals, when needed

o Secure corporate gifts and sponsorships

o Establish corporate gift and sponsorship production goals and objectives and meet them within established parameters

o Work with athletics and other departments and programs in coordinating, cultivating, and soliciting corporate sponsorships

• Support other fundraising initiatives by providing additional written materials as needed

• Work with the Advancement team in meeting team goals and objectives

• Participate in university events as necessary and advantageous to the position and its responsibilities
