ABOUT THE JOB

The University of Cincinnati (UC) is an internationally recognized, urban public research university committed to preparing students for success in a diverse, innovative, global world. We are seeking a dynamic and effective leader to work collaboratively with each of the UC campuses, Cincinnati Public School District (CPS), and other stakeholders to provide coordination of student success efforts and advance the student success and enrollment culture and outcomes for CPS students at UC. The Director of CPS Strong will work collaboratively to create a vision for CPS student success across UC; use data-informed tools to identify opportunities to enhance retention, persistence, and degree completion at both CPS and UC; and collaborate with the appropriate offices to eliminate attainment gaps for CPS students at UC.

JOB OVERVIEW

Lead and coordinate the University of Cincinnati's efforts to significantly increase the number of Cincinnati Public School (CPS) students who enroll in and graduate from the university. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

*Lead and coordinate UC efforts to increase enrollment, student success, and graduation rates of CPS students. *Establish trust-based relationships with CPS district and school leadership teams to facilitate successful collaboration between the university, district, and individual schools. *Establish shared-leadership partnerships with key stakeholders across the university, including decentralized colleges, advising and student success supports, student life/services, and identity offices. *Develop strategic goals and implementation plans to increase CPS student retention, progression, and graduation from UC. Communicate with deans and senior leaders to advance a student-ready culture and advocate change. Identify policy, process, and programs that support student success at Uptown, UC Blue Ash and UC Clermont campuses. *Advocate for strategies to make the logistics of college access easier (ex. application process, new student experience, policy, etc.) with Enrollment Management offices and other partners. *Partner with CECH and CPS Schools to support readiness models that increase college preparation (ex. UC Scholars Academy, Bearcats Academy, Upward Bound, etc.). Provide CPS schools with clarity about academic preparation requirements for UC programs. *Chair a CPS Strong steering committee and convene stakeholder groups to coordinate leadership structure around readiness, access, and success. *Work with university partners to build on existing programs that meet student success goals resulting in stronger academic achievement, enhanced campus engagement and sense of community for CPS students. *Collaboratively design a detailed assessment plan and timeline to monitor student success outcomes. Present outcomes and opportunity data regularly to CPS partners, college deans, admissions, and student success personnel *Convene a student advisory board of CPS graduates. Participate in CPS-related student programming and outreach on campus and in the community. *Serve as a member of the Advising & Academic Services directorial leadership team. *Develop and sustain a working knowledge of student success models, practices, and research for urban university partnerships with urban school systems. Utilize a deep understanding of equity & inclusion practices for student success. *Create celebration opportunities to recognize and tell the stories and successes of CPS graduates. Create and implement awareness of initiatives, services and programming to UC, CPS and broader community. *Publish articles and present at local and national conferences to create awareness of CPS Strong work. *Manage budgetary expenditures for the CPS Strong funded initiatives across the university. Build business case and support materials to increase funding including grant proposals, budget proposals, and fundraising briefs. *May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EDUCATION

Master's Degree in a related educational program, Education Administration, Teaching, Counseling, Student Development or related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Seven (7) years of related experience that includes progressively responsible administrative experience in student success, support, program management, and assessment. Experience must include one (1) year supervision.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED

*Experience working within a large, decentralized university. *Experience working with a K-12 public school system or with urban high school students.
