SUMMARY:
The Director, Continuous Improvement (CI) serves as a key strategic partner across the Tyson enterprise, and leads all facets of delivering world-class performance across the specific business area (Poultry or Prepared Foods) and continuously advance its team member culture, behaviors and capability. This position has lead responsibility over a team of highly trained professionals, responsible for the development, standardization, execution and effectiveness of the Tyson Productivity System (TPS) within the business unit to deliver core business commitments. This role is further responsible for the advancement and execution of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and approaches, as needed to enable best in class continuous improvement execution across the business unit. This position will collaborate with peer leaders across Poultry, Prepared Foods and Fresh Meats in the standardization of CI policy deployment across all business and functional levels of Senior Leadership, and will be a highly impactful role, as well as a strategic peer to all levels of senior leadership of CI, reporting into the VP of Business Development.
This role requires hands-on development of technical and leadership capability within the business area, as well as ability to inspire and motivate team performance, and interpersonal skills in a challenging yet rewarding environment. The role will require relationship building across multiple Business Units (BUs), functions and key business decision-makers and ownership of core communications and marketing strategies aimed at disseminating a “One Tyson” mind-set and culture for the business. Candidates must thrive with both strategic thinking, and hands-on leadership to be effective in dynamic and challenging work environments. The Director CI serves on the CI Leadership Team, interacts with BU leadership and functional stakeholders, as well as outside partners to develop and execute actions to deliver the annual strategic objectives. This role also conducts and leads key analysis tied directly to BU metrics and goals, wherein results in effectiveness of CI team efforts are measured directly from business performance and KPIs; ensures the right experts are engaged across the business; develops a communication model to cohesively support business improvement challenges, and will communicate with key project stakeholders cross functionally and vertically through all levels of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from accredited 4-year college or university required.
MBA or M.Sc. strongly preferred.
Experience:
10 years of relevant work experience in leading high-performance continuous improvement teams, with deep understanding of fundamentals in developing and executing world-class operational, and enterprise performance excellence.
Experience in leading initiatives and improvement across manufacturing or warehousing operations, preferably in Food of Pharma environments.
Experience in program management or strategy in a major corporation, top-tier strategy consulting firm, or combination of these experiences.
Computer skills:
Superior quantitative, analytical, strategic and problem-solving skills, including a working knowledge of statistical and financial modeling.

Outstanding oral, written and communication skills; discriminating listener
