Job Description:

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: In support of the mission of the University. Director of Athletics regarding all athletic communications and sports information with a secondary report to the Director of Marketing for Enrollment Management to ensure consistency with the overall athletic communication and marketing strategies of the Assumption brand.

BASIC PURPOSE: This position is responsible for leading the development and management of all athletic communications and marketing, ensuring the Assumption brand is accurately represented across all forms of communications. This position will oversee day-to-day operation of athletic communications, including sports information, and will work with the athletic administrative team to ensure timely and accurate communications of all Assumption University Athletics content. This position will also serve as a member of the enrollment management marketing team, collaborating with marketing and communications team members in the creation and execution of Athletic marketing strategies.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Communications Responsibilities (80%)

1. Develop, coordinate and execute all athletic communication, ensuring all communication strategies and execution fit within the broader context of the University-wide communications strategy and plan.

2. Maintain the Assumptiongreyhounds.com website and ensure accurate up-to-date information including, but not limited to, competition results, athlete/coach/staff profiles, statistics, records, etc.

3. Oversee all aspects of game-day communications, including keeping official statistics, webcasting, media production and media coverage.

4. Recruit, train and maintain a staff of per diem employees, graduate assistants, student workers and interns to work in all areas of the athletic communications office.

5. Schedule all game-day operations staff including in-game broadcasting, public address announcing, web casting, video services and game reports for media releases.

6. Write, edit and submit press releases and feature articles to the general media and Assumption Magazine.

7. Prepare and manage all aspects of the athletic communications budget.

8. Serve as the athletic communications leader to the athletics administrative team and attends meetings as required.

9. Oversee all athletic social media marketing channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Develop and implement strategies to maximize exposure and interaction.

10. Oversee the creation and dissemination of highlight videos including preseason information, in-season highlights, post-game interviews, athlete stories, end of year awards, etc.

11. Work in conjunction with the University's Executive Director of Communications to ensure consistent communication with all audiences including all media requests. The Executive Director of Communications has some oversight responsibility of athletic communications strategy and crisis communication.

Marketing Responsibilities (20%)

1. Coordinate with the Director of Marketing for Enrollment Management to ensure consistent internal and external brand messaging when telling the Assumption athletics story.

2. Serve as the athletic representative on the enrollment management marketing team and attend weekly communications meeting with members of the marketing, admissions, and communications teams.

3. Enforce compliance of branding guidelines. Responsible for developing and maintaining consistent messaging and visual brand standards.

4. Develop and implement a marketing plan in collaboration with the marketing team and campus community to promote home sporting events with the purpose of increasing attendance and creating a positive game day experience.

Requirements:

* Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University;

* Bachelor's degree required;

* Master's degree preferred;

* Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging as appropriate across communication channels;

* 3-5 years of related experience required;

* Knowledge of current and emerging marketing concepts;

* Strong understanding of and experience using social media platforms for awareness and engagement;

* Understanding of Google Analytics and use of data to improve user experience;

* Experience in video production;

* Experience ensuring brand consistency across materials development, including when working with third parties (designers, videographers, web developers, etc.);

* Strong time management, project management, and organization skills; high attention to detail;

* Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite as well as statistical software;

* Ability to maintain confidentiality;

* Familiarity with best practices in methods and modes of archiving records;

* Familiarity with - and commitment to upholding - NCAA regulations involving athletic marketing;

* Vaccinated and Boostered for COVID-19 required.

Additional Information:

SCOPE:

* Variable working hours including evenings/weekends and traveling with intercollegiate athletics teams.

* Interacts daily with student/athletes, other University administrators, and various media outlets.

* Oversees the daily operations of the athletics communications department.

* Supervises professional staff and student employees.

* Possesses and understands the many skills required for the profession; i.e., journalistic, graphic design, photographic, videotape and electronic media, computer program, application and networking.

* Supervise the maintenance, preservation and organization of accurate historical records including written files and photographic media using current technology.

* Serve as a Campus Security Authority for Clery reporting purposes and a Responsible Employee for Title IX reporting purposes.

* Perform other related duties as assigned.
