This business role is instrumental in leading strategic planning, delivery and growth for the Shell Digital Ecosystem as well as platform delivery for CVPs to help us achieve our Vision.

The purpose of this business role is to serve as the US Marketing Technology Digital Manager for initiation and delivery of key innovative solutions that enable our Vision and Objectives.

Develop and grow the Shell digital ecosystem (apps, connected car, etc.) and business impact by:

improving and enhancing the integrated customer payment and loyalty experience

optimizing marketing plans and investment

strategically expanding our digital partner base

leveraging our partnerships for Fuel Rewards acquisition and activation

be responsible for the marketing technical development plan (API strategy) that enables integration of loyalty/payment/other CVPs into Shell Mobile apps/Partner apps/OEMs

Be responsible for developing and enabling new CVPs from the business with a balanced business & technical lens focused on maximizing business value and improving the customer experience

Accountabilities

This position is accountable for growth and optimization of the Digital Payments & Loyalty (PayLo) Ecosystem, which includes:

Maintaining and driving delivery of the digital ecosystem roadmap and growing its bottom-line impact to the business (currently Shell app, GM connected car, FCA connected car, WEX app, ChasePay app)

Accountabilities specific to the Shell app include: ​

Serving as Product Owner (PO)of the Shell app

Assessing app’s market performance, alignment with target customer conversion funnel and other key metrics, and comparison to competitive benchmarks and driving appropriate actions to hit growth targets

Identifying and prioritizing opportunities for continuous improvement of the Shell app, and particularly the Pay & Save CVP, in coordination with Canada PO

Coordination with US IT and global Digital Experience (business) and Connected Customer (IT) teams to deliver app enhancements

Working with the US Brand & Comms team to optimize promotion of the Shell app through marketing campaigns to drive maximum awareness, trial, and continued usage

Working with the US Loyalty team to enhance the CRM capabilities of the Shell app and develop the Shell app as a customer communication channel

​Accountabilities specific to partner apps include:

Outlining synergistic and replicable business roadmap for 3P strategy

Securing new strategic partnerships for the integration of loyalty and/or payment into partner digital platforms (including but not limited to web, mobile apps, vehicle in-dash infotainment systems, other customer facing digital channels)

Delivering payment and loyalty integrations into partner digital platforms (e.g., Fuel Rewards app)

Leveraging partnerships beyond digital payment and loyalty for Fuel Rewards acquisition and activation (e.g., Chase)

Working with partners to optimize the payment and loyalty integrations for maximum impact in market through marketing and continuous improvement of the user experience

Business/Project Management for other marketing prioritized CVPs (eg, Fuel Rewards enrollment at the dispenser)

Develop and maintain marketing technology implementation plans partnering with all stakeholders including internal functional groups and external Suppliers and in particular partnering with members of the overall Marketing team to ensure technical delivery plans that meet objectives

Conduct strong Project Management; Lead and drive disciplined project management with clear business scope, funding/cost management, KPIs/milestones, change management, deliverable ownership, business resourcing, issues id/resolution, timelines and risks/mitigations and Go/No Go decisions prior to deployment

Coordinating with Retail Sales & Operations groups to deploy new CVPs according to the ITD project delivery framework

Special Challenges

Understanding and accelerating adoption drivers for technical/digital initiatives

Creating NA strategic business partnerships and marketing/technical roadmap

Driving integration across numerous Retail Business and IT teams

Fostering strategic partnership with Global teams; in particular Global Digital and IT teams

Developing commercial relationships with external parties

Ensuring alignment across numerous internal and external parties/staff working toward common objectives to deliver complex scopes of work

Requirements:

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Bachelor's Degree required. Degree in Marketing or Digital Marketing preferred.

Minimum of seven (7) years relevant working experience.

Excellent partner and relationship management skills.

Great influencing skills with emphasis on external stakeholders (e.g., PDI, P97, Chase, GM, etc.).

Strong project management skills including experience with delivering through the Agile Scrum methodology.

Strong understanding of technology delivery lifecycle (design, develop, test, deploy).

Experience with reporting and analytics tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, and other reporting tools).

Good data analytics skills, ability to derive business insights to support informed decision making.

Experience conducting consumer research and deriving insights on drivers of customer behavior to support design decisions.

Experience in the design of digital customer experiences (app design and other digital experiences a plus).

Experience in conducting user testing/piloting technical solutions.

Experience in managing various and multiple number of stakeholders across many geographies (e.g., teams based in Houston, Dallas, London, Amsterdam).

Experience in complex program management, particularly including Shell Retail IT systems integrations.

Ability to guide decision making through concise presentation of the issue and relevant factors.

Strong commercial mindset.
