JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for leading significant and complex accounting
within the Corporate Accounting group.
Research
technical accounting issues and write/review memos and documentation. Provide
technical accounting guidance, including application of new accounting
pronouncements. The ideal candidate will have a strong public accounting
background and excellent organization and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead monthly
and quarterly financial statement close and reporting process for functional
area of responsibility, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded
accurately and timely as well as analyzing and reviewing financial statements
and variances. Consult and liaise with operating unit finance personnel on
accounting issues.
Lead and/or participate in special projects
including system conversion or enhancements, requiring user acceptance testing,
providing feedback to IT programmers, and training other staff member on the
new process / system.
Establishes
and maintains compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles by
providing technical accounting guidance and training on a variety of subjects.
Responsible
for the establishment, monitoring and maintenance of robust internal controls.
Coordinate,
review and analyze account reconciliations for companies and/or designated
functions within area of responsibility. Ensure compliance with generally
accepted accounting principles and Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements.
Interpret
current accounting policies and practices, and lead enhancement of updated
operating procedures to improve efficiency.
Interact
with internal and external auditors, management, and other functional finance
team members as required to accomplish goals.
Required to read and interpret contracts, legal
documents, and other agreements. Ability to record complex business
transactions in the general ledger.
Reviews team’s projects and deliverables to
ensure work accuracy and departmental deadlines are met.
Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides formal supervision to individual
employees within single functional or operational area. Approves subordinate's
recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement,
corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct
reports to next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors
appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime.
Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team
members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors
that are consistent with the company's values. Manages a functional work unit
and/or group.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s
Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; a CPA and/or MBA may be
required OR equivalent combination of education and experience. 7 years’
experience in public and/or private accounting, including 3 years’ experience
in progressively responsible supervisory/management positions.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
CPA or MBA with a concentration in
Accounting or Finance preferred.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal
communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to
provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous information to top management.
Highly developed written, oral, and presentation skills.
Proven ability to communicate effectively,
both orally and in writing, and interact effectively with top management,
employees, representatives of federal and state governments, and external
auditors.
Ability to collect, analyze,
and summarize data and prepare clear, concise financial reports. Must have
ability to convey complex financial issues to nonfinancial users.
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Broad, in-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
regulations.
Requires knowledge of
financial terms and principles. Ability to analyze the most complex
business/financial data and develop innovative solutions.
Ability to forecast and prepare budgets.
Performs advanced financial analysis.
Advanced understanding of accounting and
bookkeeping concepts.
Develops and
administers accounting practices to ensure optimum client satisfaction while
guaranteeing CBRE financial interests are protected.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve
advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations.
Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in
developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based environment. Draws
upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact
on the company. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Advanced skills in
Microsoft suite applications.
Ability to design and produce
various ad-hoc reports.
Advanced
knowledge of computer applications related to real estate accounting or
financial management systems.

Decisions made
with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results
and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Able to solve
problems and deal with a variety of options in varying situations.
