Summary:
We are looking for a talented, motivated leader for the Facebook Enterprise Infrastructure and Security - AEGIS team. This team collaborates with Research Engineers and Scientists to develop forward looking solutions, empowering them to create the future of Augmented and Virtual Reality. This role will help proactively analyze the needs of Research groups and determine the best course of action to meet business objectives, develop short and long term strategy while driving day to day infrastructure execution for Facebook Reality Labs - Research globally.
This role will report up through and work directly with Enterprise Engineering leadership as well as cross-functional teams throughout Facebook.
Required Skills:
Support the ARC engineers working with research teams on all aspects of GPU driven High Performance Computing environments
Partner with Hardware and Production Engineering to enable SWE’s and Data Scientists to manage, maintain and track face and body collection
Ensure Facebook standardization, automation and best practices across all platforms where possible
Understand technical architectures, capacity management, tooling needs, automation plans, product launch plans, and other issues and create comprehensive plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges
Partner with Network Engineering, Storage, Compute, OS, Security, and TPM teams to plan and execute against a broad array of Scientific and Research Engineering needs
Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing and interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and onboarding new employees. Balance the need to “keep things running” with allocating time to long-term, high-impact strategic projects
Help engineers develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their current skill levels as well as their long-term development, taking into account evolving strengths and capabilities
Assess employee performance frequently, addressing under-performance, and recognizing, and promoting excellent performance
Minimum Qualifications:
8 or more years of work experience in an Enterprise environment
4 or more years of people management experience in an Enterprise environment
Experience working in an environment with multiple internal customers
8 or more years of work experience in the field of Information Technology
Experience with hiring and managing performance in an engineering organization. Working knowledge of Linux and network fundamentals
Experience with coding in at least one language (even if it is not one that Facebook uses)
Experience learning new software languages, frameworks, and APIs
Experience designing and supporting infrastructure that supports complex, distributed architectures
Bachelor’s Degree in Programming, Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Computer Science
Experience with High Performance Computing Environments
Experience supporting Research-focused organizations
