The Corporate Communications team at Humana is responsible for leading and executing communication strategies to enhance, build and protect the Humana Brand.
Against that backdrop, we are seeking an accomplished communications professional to join our team in the newly-created position of Director, Corporate and Financial Communications. This position focuses on communicating the overarching Humana business strategy and telling the Humana story to business and financial media. The Director works with senior executives on enterprise-wide communication strategies and advises them on framing and positioning the company strategy to external audiences. This includes business development, quarterly and full-year earnings as well as critical issues management across the enterprise.
This position is open for Work at Home nationwide in the lower 48 states or in any Humana office.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Devise and execute integrated communications plans, media strategies and press materials that enhance Humana's reputation with key financial press, and ultimately investor and analyst community.
Lead PR planning and programming for high-profile business milestones, including quarterly earnings, business development and C-Suite media engagement.
Secure and lead speaking opportunities for C-suite executives to drive executive visibility, company recognition and thought leadership.
Coordinate with internal and external partners on corporate initiatives.
Build and maintain strong media relationships with A-list business and financial press (e.g., Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, New York Times)
Stay informed on industry news and flag issues and trends for leaders
Handle corporate media inquiries
Key Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience (typically 12 years) in corporate communications or public relations, with experience in supporting public companies focusing on financial communications. He/she will also have deep financial and business acumen and a technical understanding of communications and media relations. Experience working for a Fortune 500 publicly traded company that must operate in compliance with SEC financial regulations will be critical, as will proven experience deploying digital/social media communications in support of financial/business narratives. Finally, the ideal candidate will have at least a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field and a clear track record of spearheading the adoption of communications best practices and innovation.

Competence in delivering multi-layered content and concepts in a clear, concise and compelling manner
Motivated self-starter with a 'roll-up your sleeves,' get-it-done mentality who is able to take both guidance and initiative
Proven ability to create and manage a high-volume of modern, integrated communication initiatives simultaneously in a complex and fast-paced environment while remaining steadfast around details and committed to deadlines
Strong emotional intelligence and management skills/experience
Creative and strategic problem solver with strong project-management skills
Tech-savvy with an understanding of combining traditional financial communications strategies and tactics with ground breaking integrated channels, including the use of social/digital media
Experience managing external vendors/agency partners
Excellent oral/written communications and presentation skills, including the polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences
Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage many diverse stakeholders and SMEs, and influence and win their co-ownership in outcomes
MBA is a strong plus
