The Mission of a Sr. Executive Team Leader
You work side by side with the Store Director to run a profitable growth business that has one purpose: to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. You lead a sales force of experts that are passionate about making sure guests get what they came for (plus a little more) every time they shop at your store. You develop leaders who care about their team members, and team members who care about their guests. Your team is obsessed with the guest and creates an experience that makes them say “I love Target!” to their friends and family.
• Assist the Store Director in planning, strategizing and building the business
• Drive total store sales, understand your role in sales growth, and how your departments contribute to and impact total store profitability
• Anticipate and identify changes in store-specific trends and drive sales growth in your departments by leaning into key seasons, events and weekends
• Leverage your reports (financial, operational, team and guest) to understand the business. Share key insights and themes with the Store Director in support of total store strategy and growth.
• Know and assess the competition and leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business and be the destination of choice for our guests
• Create a guest-obsessed culture that prioritizes the guest experience and delivers on store sales goals
• Lead a confident and knowledgeable sales force that delivers a differentiated experience for our guests and prioritizes the guest over task
• Lead an efficient operation to fund the sales culture
• Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit, hire and retain a passionate team for area specific knowledge and expertise
• Actively develop, coach and train your team
• Lead your ETLs to develop and coach their team to elevate the skills and expertise needed to be best for the guest
• Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management
• Support the Store Director in owning and implementing exempt and hourly schedules that align to guest and business needs (including weekends, mornings, evenings, overnight, and appropriate seasonal adjustments)
• Plan, lead and follow-up on organizational and operational change
• Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evening, overnight shifts and weekends) and complements that of the Store Director
• Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance. Lead and hold the team accountable to work in the same way.
• As a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes
• Address store needs (emergency, regulatory visits etc.)
