SUMMARY: This position, based in Springdale Arkansas, will lead a portion of our strategic and tactical Prepared Foods, Poultry and Fresh Meats work at Tyson Foods. The role will inspire, lead and work alongside the foodservice Culinary Innovation team to execute the business unit and Culinary strategic plans. The leader will bring new food products through our internal and external customers. Driven by consumer insight, and foodservice culinary expertise the role will deliver creative solutions while developing the team to work in a proactive, creative environment.
This leader will work with internal research and development, innovation marketing, operations, insight and sensory teams in the design of delicious products. The leader will build and grow the Culinary Innovation leaders of tomorrow shifting resources to ensure the team is developing the needed talents.
In addition, the position requires a strong foundation in culinary and foodservice operation fundamentals as Tyson delivers omni-channel solutions that may be executed in foodservice, retail and hybrid outlets. Foodservice contacts may be leveraged as well to assist in the design of products that may be inspired by a foodservice gold standard.
The team is expected to work closely with R&D and technical counterparts; as a result, the leader must be able to work closely with food scientists understanding the language, tools and techniques of at scale food processing.
Communication skills are very important, the leader who takes this role must be able to manage effectively up and down to foster deep collaboration with leadership, cross functionals, build a strong team and to operate at all levels--filling in wherever needed. Collaboration is expected to be professional, growth oriented and designed to effectively move food product project design forward.
Maintaining a professional appearance, level of food quality and sanitation standards at all times are very important, setting and holding the standard for the team.
REQUIREMENTS: Education: Requires culinary degree or certified chef credentials from the American Culinary Federation. Business, Food Science training or education are all a benefit but not required. Experience: 3 plus years chef experience including 3 years of supervisory leadership experience in the foodservice industry. Experience in at least 2 or 3 foodservice segments i.e. foodservice national accounts menu development manufacturing experience a plus in addition to catering banquet leadership segments could include: commercial restaurant hotel and on-site foodservice.
Computer Skills: Standard computer skills. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Special Skills: HACCP certified; member of at least one professional chef association; project and time management; problem solving; culinary creativity; staff training and development.
Supervisory: This position will supervise the retail innovation team after a training and development period.
Travel: 40%. Many team members and cross functional partners are located in the Chicago area, as a result this position requires a high level of travel to Tyson locations, external resource locations and customer locations.
