Responsibilities
Associate Director of Network Architecture is responsible for building the network strategy and driving innovation. The Associate Director will lead a new organization and transform Humana's networking and communications infrastructures. The ideal resource will bring a strong business focus to leverage modern, secure, highly available Network and Multi-Cloud technologies and architectures.
The Associate Director, Network Architecture designs, analyzes, plans and modifies network components supporting customer communication implementation activities. The Associate Director, Network Engineering requires a solid understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across department(s).
The Associate Director, Network Architecture is responsible to lead the engineering and design, planning, implementation, and establishment of operational and maintenance programs to deliver best-in-class next generation network infrastructure. This includes optimizing all aspects of network eco-system, including performance, resiliency, availability, resource utilization and innovation.
This person will drive implementation of standards and lifecycle processes. This person will be responsible for leveraging state-of-the-art virtualization, automation, software-defined networking (SDN) technologies, and incorporation of ML and AI capabilities to develop and deliver a robust, scalable, network eco-system. He/she will work with various leaders across the enterprise to coordinate network solutions to meet challenges of technology, regulatory, security, and competitive conditions. Scope of accountability includes both underlay and overlay for the Data Centers, WAN for remote site connectivity, and Hybrid Cloud network. Prepares the analysis of the short-term or long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Develops alternative routing scenarios and changes in required sequence of network activities. Conducts economic and population growth studies to determine impact on network capacity and development plan projections. Decisions are typically related to identifying and resolving complex technical and operational problems within department(s), and could lead multiple managers or highly specialized professional associates.
Responsibilities
Direct the strategic business and technology vision, multi-year roadmap, and implementation plan for forward looking and state-of-the-art Multi-Cloud, Data Center, Remote Access and WAN/SD-WAN and Campus network services
Lead teams in implementing strategic network initiatives that ensure the continuous evolution and advancement of network services, including Wireless, 5G, Edge computing, SD-WAN, Cloud and Automation
Research next generation or alternative technologies to make recommendations for change that keep pace with industry advancements
Provide technology presentation to CIO and other C-Level executives
Build and sustain a team culture of teamwork, collaboration, customer-focus and operational excellence
Establish and maintain relationships with vendors like Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto, Aruba, Zscaler, Akamai, Equinix, Network Carriers and Internet Service Providers
Manage the high-performing teams of technical staff responsible for the portfolio of network services
Develop budgets and project plans along with forecasting models to actively manage resource allocations
Provide technical leaders and teams guidance on complex problems
Serve as the escalation point for team members
Provide coaching and career and skills development opportunities
Evaluate processes to drive automation efforts and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure network security, health, availability, and reliability
Identify and leverage key performance indicators to assess network performance
Support Humana's information security strategy in all aspects of operating and improving network and communications infrastructure
Embed controls (e.g., segmentation) to protect all uses of the network and with special attention to IP-based critical infrastructure systems
Solicit feedback from business leaders and stakeholders to inform and drive impactful improvements
Influence technology decisions across IT to bring innovation
Required Qualifications
Typically requires Bachelor's Degree or equivalent,
10 years of technical experience in Network Technologies
2 years of recent Management of Network teams in large enterprise level organization
Ability to travel 1 week a month onsite to Corporate location in Louisville KY
Preferred Qualifications
Network engineering certification such as CCNA through CCIE or the equivalent;
Experience delivering production-quality software;
Experience in programming software defined networking and automation;
Experience with implementing and operating a software-defined network environment, especially VMWare NSX;
Experience interfacing and integrating business and technical requirements;
Project and/or program management experience;
Experience implementing, integrating, and managing network to connect public and private cloud platforms
