The Opportunity
FreshBooks is growing and looking for a
ML Product Manager
to envision and execute on a strategy and product roadmap that brings AI capabilities to both FreshBooks and our small business customers. In this role, you will create product strategies and map out features that help build a better working world using Data Science. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Product, the successful incumbent will work independently and excel as an individual contributor as part of a team of scientists and ML & software engineers.
This role will partner with senior management and stakeholders to define scope, deliverables and produce project plans that support our business growth goals. An area of focus for this role will be on our various machine learning products that create frictionless experiences for all our customers to subscribe to and consume FreshBooks. Working cross-functionally, you will identify, test and create packages and offerings that enable each customer to extract the most value from FreshBooks; by developing a deep understanding of their needs to help create experiences that are unique to their stage, vertical and segment.

What you will do:
Collaborate with both internal and external product stakeholders to work on delivering various AI/ML solutions to meet customer needs.
Execute on product strategy and roadmaps that supports both development teams and business leaders.
Organize experts from business partners, data scientists and engineers to create shared goals for AI/ML products.
Confirm that all business requirements are met throughout the product life cycle which includes overseeing the development, management, and maintenance of ML models and pipelines.
Manage and enhance quality of data products, processes and services to ensure top and bottom-line growth and achievement of our product goals.
Work with business stakeholders to foster product adoption and improve overall data literacy.
Collaborate with internal team members on the product management strategy and ways of working that helps to build team culture.
Play a key role in developing the strategy of measuring AI/ML product value for the organization to help prioritize product development and iterations.
Identify new business opportunities that can utilize AI/ML technology to drive profitability.
Ensure product scope, requirements, and deliverables are well communicated, documented and included in our data product assets library.
Stay informed on sprint planning, backlog review and project prioritization.
What you have:
Minimum of
4 years
experience helping to deliver a variety of business projects with a proven track record of delivery excellence that span multiple departments and goals
Bachelor's degree (Product Management, Business Administration, Management Analytics, machine learning, data science or equivalent related field, Master’s degree is an asset
Previous experience working with Data Science, Analytics and Data teams
Demonstrated experience in data product management (growth-stage company experience a plus) and working with agile teams and organizations.
A proven track record of bringing major features to market fast, and iterating based on customer feedback (familiarity with “lean” methodologies a plus)
Ability to develop compelling go-to-market strategies across multiple channels, and measure your impact
Strong understanding of the fundamentals of deep learning, and machine learning, e.g., over-fitting, IID data
Strong understanding and development of subscription pricing, packaging, and SKUs; previous experience in segment-targeted promotions an asset
Work experience or strong understanding of data and different product categories
Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and agree on the best approach, always keeping our customer in mind
You're a passionate leader and an excellent communicator, with a keen eye for great UX. You are responsible for your results and can report out to partners and execs on the adoption, engagement, and key metrics of Data Science products launched in-market
