Dimensions:
Lead product technology development programs of Grease products supporting branded and OEM/GKA business channels.
Co-working other R&D team members to ensure the effective delivery, operational excellence, technical assurance and staff development.
Basic Functions of the Role:
R&D Project Management: Delivers projects on time, on-scope and on-budget, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness, driving alignment with global and local stakeholders in technology, in the business, and with external partners. Gives practical input on defining technical projects. Executes work on projects showing a sense of urgency and ability to overcome obstacles. Develops formulations by working with team members and key additive suppliers, building a level of understanding that enables robust dialogue with additive company partners. Maintain good documentation and report records. Maintain understanding of competitor’s product performance and technology, and ensure that this knowledge is used to shape future product developments and product portfolio strategy. For OEM product development, mainly in charge of being the project leader of Tier-2 OEM products with the support from Team Leader and higher grade project leaders.
Technical Service: Interfaces with marketing and product management to enable efficient implementation of new products, prompt resolution of systemic product related supply chain issues and support to OEM business development opportunities as and when they arise. Understands internal and external customer needs and translates into effective technical solutions.
Uses networks effectively within Shell and externally (e.g. OEMs, Additive Companies, Industry) and demonstrates an ability to leverage it both to add business value and to increase knowledge and breath of perspective.
What we need from you:
Proven record of product development delivery, with evidence of drive and creativity coupled with a structured and disciplined approach to project management.
Track record of working in Lubricants formulation, with 3 plus year experience.
Strong technical capacity and business acumen. Technical knowledge of lubricant additives as well as base oils.
Familiar with product manufacturing process & quality control techniques.
Intellectual property development background.
Record of cross-team collaboration with business and external partners (e.g. customers/OEMs, Lube Oil Blend Plants, Marketing, Supply Chain, Global Technology stakeholders etc).
Demonstrated ability respond to customers (e.g. OEMs, Supply chain) with the technical knowledge to provide timely business solutions.
Proven team working, inter-personal & networking skills, within the global team / virtual environment with intensive communication (verbal & written).
A flexible and collaborative approach. A Learner Mindset combined with a natural curiosity.

This role will serve as Project Lead for Greases, the global focal point as part of a network across several lab locations. It contributes to the Global Solutions Downstream team that is responsible for developing technologies for Shell Lubricants, global business servicing customers worldwide. The emphasis is on delivering products and reasons to enable the Shell Lubricants business to achieve objectives of B2B/B2C growth, premium acceleration, Global Key Account growth and COGS reductions. The scope of this role contains Greases working with Marketing, Supply Chain, Global Key Accounts core teams and multiple sectors such as Commercial Road Transport, Off-Highway and Industry to deliver business solutions. As a member of the SLJ B2B Lubricants team, this role will bring high delivery and contributions for the portfolio in addition to collaborating with the wider team and demonstrating a learner’s mindset. This individual ensures program delivery dimensions R&D and Technical Service for Greases including OEM GPO/FFO.
