SUMMARY
Bering Straits Technical Services, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified
Operations Manager
for Contract # W912D0-18-008/
Ft. Wainwright, AK. The Operations Manager
will plan, direct, or coordinate activities related to the assigned departments and reports activities within the departments directly to the Site Project Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are

Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities, roads and grounds, and equipment.
Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
Prepare project budgets, bids, and scopes of work.
Prepare schedules and timelines for each of the departments.
Coordinate schedule and follow-up subcontractors work required to complete projects.
Develop and implement policies, standards, processes and procedures for technical work performed in each of the departments.
Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules.
Create and maintain metrics to capture the department’s performance.
Review and recommend service contracts and cost estimates.
Required to serve on the rotational on – call roster in order to provide the 24 hour coverage for emergencies
Performs related and other duties as assigned.

Required (Minimum) Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field, preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years experience of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hires and supervises direct reports.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
