BASIC PURPOSE: The Senior Manager of Procurement is responsible for leading all procurement efforts to enable spend owners to maximize the value they receive from suppliers to meet their objectives.  This means working with stakeholders from initial need identification to final goods or service delivery, including demand management, supply strategy, supplier ID, sourcing execution, contract negotiations, delivery planning and monitoring, purchase execution, and ongoing performance management.  These tasks will be accomplished through a team of senior sourcing and procurement professionals who will work with internal customers and external suppliers.  The incumbent will be responsible for increasing spend under management, identifying and evolving best practices, and driving the procurement function on a path of continuous improvement

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Development of the non-merchandise procurement strategy. *Creation and management of short, mid, and long-term goals and objectives. *Creation and improvement of best-practice based processes, (e.g., leadership of high-value/strategic sourcing efforts). *Management of business process outsourcing activities.  *Identification and realization of cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities. *Management of procurement systems. *Management of procurement staff in and across sourcing, contracting, transactional purchasing, supplier management, and miscellaneous internal procurement support activities. *Managing the skills and competency development of procurement staff, including training development and knowledge management capabilities. *Leadership of cross-functional teaming across other business functions and initiatives. *Development of benchmarks and scorecards to be used for continuous improvement. *Cast a positive Leadership Shadow across the company.  Be a Difference Maker. *Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

*Education:

*Bachelor's Degree (Masters preferred) in supply chain management, economics, finance, operations, engineering, or a related field.

*Experience:

*10 years of senior supply chain management, with a proven track record of delivering large savings and other value across large swaths of an organization, via a strong team developed and managed by the incumbent. *Minimum five years recent SAP Procurement Systems experience.  Ariba experience is a plus. *Professional Certifications are a plus. *Experience in the grocery/convenience retail or travel stop industry is preferred.

*Skills:

*Must be capable of functioning at a high level with all departments across the company.  Must demonstrate the ability to connect with people at all levels. *Knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong emphasis on Excel.  *Must possess excellent leadership skills. *Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to perform and make decisions under pressure and strict deadlines; excellent time management skills; detail oriented; ability to multitask and be a team player.

*Typical Physical Demands:

*Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping. *Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. *Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. *Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
