The Senior Director of Cell Therapy (CT) Integrated Portfolio Strategy plays an important role in the development of our cell therapy enterprise strategy. In partnership with senior leaders, the Senior Director of Integrated Portfolio Strategy facilitates the development of an integrated asset portfolio strategy to achieve organizational goals and long-term sustainability. Core responsibilities include driving key CMC/LCM portfolio strategy processes, evaluating the asset CMC portfolio, guiding CAPEX investment decisions, and developing strategic choices and recommendations for senior leadership in Cell Therapy.
In this highly visible role, the Senior Director of CT Portfolio Strategy will partner closely with leaders in CTDO and in partner areas to deliver a franchise-wide integrated portfolio strategy that enables industry-leading performance. The role also ensures ongoing alignment of cell therapy portfolio, with organizational strategies and those of our Cell Therapy stakeholders. Accordingly, it is critical that the candidate effectively engage a matrixed team of internal and external partners to ensure organizational alignment.
Key responsibilities:
Developing and driving an integrated asset portfolio strategy that fulfils near-, mid-, and long-term CT goals
Leading and identifying potential portfolio gaps, imbalances, and risks and proposing mitigations
Clearly articulating portfolio priorities to ensure appropriate levels of investment and resourcing
Developing clearly framed portfolio choices and opportunities for long-term sustainability
Routinely evaluating the portfolio and guiding scenario planning to inform asset and portfolio decisions
Evaluating individual asset strategies and investment proposals (internal and external) in the context of portfolio and enterprise strategies
Facilitating transparent, cross-functional alignment on portfolio recommendations and tradeoffs at senior most governance forums for Cell Therapy manufacturing and supply
Guiding Cell Therapy strategies to ensure alignment with enterprise strategy and priorities
Driving and continuously improving key portfolio strategy processes (e.g., CTDO operations and strategy reviews, portfolio reviews, portfolio optimization) and core deliverables for CTDO LT
Ensuring alignment of portfolio strategy with adjacent initiatives and processes (e.g., CTDO program resources & development costs, long-term portfolio planning, pipeline goal setting, company goal setting, etc.)
Staying abreast of external/industry trends and peer strategies to inform portfolio strategy
Mentoring and training teams in articulating strategy and driving programs aligned with portfolio strategy
Requirements:
Undergraduate (BA/BS) degree required; PhD or MBA preferred but not required; seeking balanced combination of scientific and business acumen
12 plus years of direct professional experience in CMC development in life sciences, biopharmaceuticals; strong understanding of biopharma drug development and commercialization process
Portfolio strategy, TA/Franchise strategy, portfolio management, or drug development project management experience strongly preferred
Demonstrated strength in understanding overarching company goals, performing strategic assessments, and developing clearly framed choices and recommendations
Comfort in agile environment; capable of bringing structure to vaguely defined problems while using creative yet pragmatic problem-solving approaches
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
Demonstrated experience in CMC development and implementation of business processes that can benefit early-stage CMC teams.
• Demonstrated ability to coach team leaders in navigating the complexities of a cross-functional, matrixed organization that is dynamic and rapidly evolving.
