The Associate Director (AD) is an individual contributor responsible for leading BMS' Real-World Data (RWD) governance, globally, across R&D, ensuring transparency and that data remain a corporate asset.

Key components of this role include:

Leading multiple internal customer work streams across our business governance process, engaging with IT (EIM), Legal, Global Procurement, plus. Educating BMS teams on RWD appropriate use (ensuring company compliance), formalizing and automating this process. Strategically engaging suppliers / vendors on RWD licensing (MSA & SOW initiation / expansion / renewals) to create an advanced data ecosystem. Leading other contracting initiatives including TPAs, SOPs plus.

T his role requires a self-motivated, high-energy individual who can easily function in a performance-driven environment building strong relationships across the BMS matrix teams. He / she must be accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel as well as applying constant attention to changing priorities and needs.

The RWD strategy team is a highly visible, internal consulting group consisting of SMEs within the organization and is responsible for leading BMS' RWD strategy across all disease areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:

Collaborate in a consultative manner across various R&D team members, matrix stakeholders and vendors to bring the best enabling governance forward for research initiatives

Partner with IT and business stakeholders to implement an intuitive, metadata-driven, data catalog, creating visibility and knowledge sharing across RWD assets

Partner with procurement and R&D team members to drive adoption of a streamlined RWD assessment, evaluation, acquisition and governance process

Lead data strategy governance work streams by ensuring appropriate stakeholder engagement, progress, coordinating team meetings and keeping key players updated on progress

Manage and provide oversight for data on-boarding of all assets

Engage and collaborate with internal team members and partners (CORDS, HEOR, Global Procurement, Legal and other matrix team members) across R&D to execute BMS' data strategy governance model

Synthesize progress / updates, develop recommendations and effectively / efficiently communicate (orally, written and via ppt) results to teams - developing presentations that clearly / concisely articulate a strategic story

Balance demands across multiple data governance implementation components, shifting priorities when required

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum 7 years in-depth knowledge of real-world pharmaceutical / healthcare data and use cases across R&D and / or Commercial

Experience collaborating with data vendors / suppliers to bring the best RWD assets forward

Understanding of data environments / ecosystems including traditional and hosted 5 - 7 years

Experience managing data budgets

Management consulting (strategy) experience 2 years desired

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Thorough understanding of RWD traditional and emerging sources and their appropriate use for research / analytical purposes

Consultative problem solving skills, with a creative and innovative outlook

Experience leading organizational change and executing data governance

Understanding of databases / environments including traditional and hosted

Experience working with technical data management / database, IT, Legal, Global Procurement and vendors / suppliers

Knowledge of data privacy regulations including HIPAA, GDPR, plus

Strong attention to detail, with a quality-focused mindset

Proven oral / written communication and presentation skills that enable concise, efficient and effective communication with senior-level decision makers
